[real STEEL] The best of the best in every issue of Truck Hub Magazine! We featured this '29 Ford pickup in Issue 5.
The cab still looks tall, even though itβs now shorter by two inches. The late Clay Cook helped Henry build a new roof, which incorporates a β32-like drip rail. The extended cab provides extra inches for much-needed legroom inside. Among the modifications Steadfast MFG made to the cab was to enlarge the rear window, now 3 inches taller and 2 inches wider than stock.
H&H Flatheads built the engine using an 8BA block that was thoroughly cleaned (hot tanked and acid dipped) and inspected (magnafluxed and pressure tested). The balanced reciprocating assembly mounts S**t H-beam connecting rods on a 4.125-inch stroker crank. The valvetrain uses all new components, including Manley 1.5-inch stainless steel valves, valve keepers and spring retainers, and Isky valvesprings.
The flathead gleams thanks to polished cylinder heads and a two-pot intake, which are Navarro components reproduced by H&H. Twin Stromberg 97s feed the mill.
The truck body sits on a chassis fabricated by Steadfast Mfg., including all the crossmembers and brackets. The exhaust, too, was done in-house, carefully routed around the transmission hoop and then arched up and over the Winters quick-change rearend.
