I’m so happy to see this. My cousin Phyllis Hyman 🎤 is being honored in my own city 🤘🏽 🤘🏽🕊️🥹 I have really worked hard, as of these past couple of months to Research, Honor & Keep both of my cousins ( Phyllis Hyman and Earle Hyman’s) Legacy’s both alive and not forgotten. Despite them being gone & honestly I never really inquired to know or taking the time during my younger years to just comprehend their body of work (within the arts)….So, what can i say? In my eyes, as a child or even as a young adult, that particular style & overall genre of music (Soul / R&B) just wasnt on my playlist & nor had I heard Phyllis on the radio. Respectfully, as many of you know, my preference was Rap or TLC…. I listened to alot of & modern 90’s R&B as well like KC & Jodeci. With that said, I nor ( many of my peers can honestly say ) they/we really heard or knew of Phyllis, especially not my generation & def not in the current or newer generations….ya know? So for me the connection and my passion for knowing the music + publishing & entertainment buisness were not “up-to-par, not till 2020.
