NEW HOSTS ANNOUNCEMENT:   Please join me in welcoming Gladys Fuentes and Nayeli Plata as my fellow co-hosts for this season! is a longtime Houston music writer (Houston Press) and has interviewed everyone from X’s John Doe to blues legend Bobby Rush to country badass Margo Price - just this year alone! - and many, many more.  She’s a friend, a joy and no stranger to the program. Gladys co-hosted two Season One episodes, our sit-downs with Amanda Pascali and Colorado folk punkers Doom Scroll, and we’re eager to see her flourish as a full-time fixture on the show.

Since Latin music is music’s fastest growing genre, we’ll be doing more bilingual and Spanish language content this season and Nayeli Plata will be joining us to facilitate those interviews. is also a friend, a joy and no stranger to the program. She handled Spanish-language interviewing on our most viewed episode - our tour bus talk with Mexican music superstar Christian Nodal – and helped us prep for several Season One interviews. We’re super excited to watch her grow in this role and introduce viewers to well-known and up-and-coming acts in one of music’s most captivating genres.

In December, we’ll be airing two final episodes featuring Jon Denman as show host - our chat with Daniel Donato at Rockefeller’s and a Heights Theater remote with jam band legends Leftover Salmon. Both episodes feature incredible concert footage you won’t want to miss.

Then we’ll start 2025 with Gladys’s first official show as co-host, an interview with .albarran the iconic singer of the legendary rock en Español band, Café Tacvba, which Nayeli helped us organize. We’ll circle back with fresh posts as we get closer to those air dates.

Scroll through these photos to see what fun, fierce and fascinating women they are and then tune into our new season of shows to learn more about Gladys, Nayeli and a bunch of your favorite musicians and bands. Thanks!

Hey y’all, it’s Jesse. I just wanted to thank you Vinyl Voices followers and faithful for your patience while we’ve been on a bit of a hiatus. Our team has had some life/career changes that have prompted a retooling of the show and we’re now ready to announce some big changes as we resume bringing you the best musicians around, from local heroes to international superstars.

First, we’ll be leaving your radio airwaves for a bit to focus on video opportunities. Many thanks to our friends at ESPN 97.5 FM for all their support in our first season of shows, which helped us establish a solid foundation. We look forward to seeing where Jason Esparza’s video production talents lead us and we feel the sky is the limit in that regard.

Many thanks also to Jon Denman, our show founder and cohost for Season One, who is taking a step back from hosting but remains on as a consultant. Thanks also to Kevin Murphy, (y'all know him as ) whose production expertise brought Season One to amazing auditory life. He’s stepping away to focus on his wonderful family.

You can’t really replace the charm, talent and experience of those folks so instead of replacing we’re making some exciting additions to the family.

Who's gonna fill these seats? More on that tomorrow.
