A Fire Weather Watch has been issued across the majority of the area for Sunday afternoon. Low RH values of 20-25% and breezy conditions with gusts to 30-40 mph will lead to increased fire danger. Take caution when engaging in activities that involve fire, such as burning yard debris, having campfires or using fire pits.

The Amelia County High School Varsity Volleyball Team played in the Regional Tournament on Wednesday (Nov. 12). They lost to Poquoson by a score of 3 - 1. They now travel to Fort Defiance High School in Fort Defiance, VA on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 6 p.m. to play in the first round of the state tournament. NASCAR Cup driver Denny Hamlin recently returned to the former site of Amelia Motor Raceway. AMR hosted races from the 1960s through the early 2000s, when it was closed. Denny raced many times in his early years at this track.

Warm temperatures through the weekend will give way to much cooler than normal conditions early next week behind a strong cold front. High temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s are forecast Monday and Tuesday. A widespread hard freeze is expected Monday night into Tuesday morning next week with freezing temperatures likely reaching near the immediate coast.
