📚 The rumors are true... if you haven't heard, the library has a new director! 📚

We’re excited to welcome Keith McFarlane as the new Director of the James L. Hamner Public Library! Originally from Wi******er, VA, Keith brings a wealth of experience—including his most recent role as IT Director in Missouri—and a passion for libraries and community connection.

Our first day with Mobile Vet Solutions was a success! Over 20 cat and dog spays/neuters were performed today by an incredible staff. We will be having a second spay and neuter clinic in August, so let us know if you're interested. Message us to get on the list!

UPDATE!!! At approximately 8:45 p.m. today, Mr. Eiras has been found, according to a recent post from the sheriff.

Amelia County Sheriff's Office received a report of a missing person on June 23, 2025 in the 15000 block of Church Street.
Missing Person: Daniel Eiras is a white male, 51 years old, brown hair (length is past his shoulders), beard, approx. 6 foot and 275 lbs.
Last seen wearing shorts, believed to be camo

The Sheriff’s Office along with Amelia Emergency Management, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries are still searching for Mr. Eiras.
Citizens can check their out buildings and cameras on property. If you see anything suspicious, please contact the Sheriff’s Office. We do not want citizens to go out searching for the subject due to weather conditions and interfering with the law enforcement search.
