The Shelter operates with an upper limit of 136 resident felines onsite, and some in the care of foster homes depending upon the season. All cats that enter the Shelter are assessed by a veterinarian and once tested and cleared for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus or other diseases, spayed/neutered, and flea and worm treatment are available for adoption. The Shelter is deemed a c

losed admission facility, meaning that when the Shelter is full it is not able to admit any cats or kittens until space becomes available. This policy allows the Shelter to remain no kill. Teams of volunteers are required 365 days a year to attend to the kennel areas, cat care and other operating requirements including administrative tasks, operating the Thrift Store, and transporting cats to and from the vet. The Shelter promotes spay and neuter of all domestic pets and assists low income individuals with education and the means to spay or neuter their pets by use of a subsidized voucher program.
