Although our roots extend into the late 1800s, we have celebrated over 100 years under the current masthead -- The Hope Star-Journal. Focusing on Haw Creek and Flat Rock townships in northeast Bartholomew County, the Star-Journal was considered the local newspaper by the Hoosier State Press Association and Indiana State Government. The paper suspended publication in October 2014 after the death of Larry Simpson, the owner, editor and publisher.

Don't miss this event Friday night on the Hope Town Square from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. While I am no longer with you on this Earth to be there to enjoy this event, you just may see me and my friend and famous Story Teller Chuck Baker around the old Hope Star-Journal offices or moving about the corners of the Square. Chuck and I were there for the first Goodies, Goblins and Ghost Stories and don't want to miss the 10th Anniversary. 👻👻👻

It smells like breakfast on the Hope Town Square. Come early and get your breakfast from The Hope Volunteer Fire Department. Browse all the vendor booths, check out the Pioneer Village, visit the Yellow Trail Museum and find out why it's called the Yellow Trail, visit your local businesses on the Town Square, grab lunch from an assortment of local nonprofit organizations inside the Square, find your spot to watch the parade and enjoy your visit to the Hope Heritage Days festival.

We are down at the square serving breakfast until we run out then, we will be starting on fish about 10!

Come to the Hope Heritage Days today and tomorrow and support local nonprofit food booths located inside the Hope Town Square. Nothing better than a fish sandwich from the Hope Fire Department.

As Heritage Day 2021 comes to a close it always brings us to remember the parting of Larry Simpson. The Hope Star Journal as a printed paper stopped after Larry's death in 2014. A new page for the Star Journal was created for it's online content. Please follow that page at hsjonline. Thank you to all the ones that keep that page and web site going.
