Mānaiakalani is a freestanding stainless steel and cast glass sculpture based on the legendary fishhook of the demigod Māui. It was created by Scott Norwood Fitzel, an artist of part-Hawaiian descent. He was commissioned by the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts to create this piece for Nanakulī Public Library, and installed it last September.
