We are gearing up for our 99th annual South Texas Press Association Convention (held in conjunction with the Texas Gulf Coast Association Convention) to be held April 10-12, 2025 at the Courtyard River Village in New Braunfels. More details to follow, but it is time to pay your dues.

As many yesterday were ringing out 2024 and ringing in 2025, the community of Port Aransas was experiencing a seismic shift.

Our dear, long-time STPA friends and leaders, Murray and Mary Henkel Judson, officially retired, passing the baton of the Port Aransas South Jetty to co-publishers Kelli Hartig and Dan Parker.

We wish Kelli and Dan all the luck!

And, we offer our very best wishes to Mary and Murray as they begin their next chapter in life.

𝘢𝘴 𝘚𝘛𝘗𝘈 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘎𝘊𝘗𝘈 𝘫𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘶𝘱!

The first ever combined convention of the South Texas Press Association and the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association will be held April 18-20, 2024, at Moody Gardens in Galveston!

We’ll still have separate newspaper contests and separate silent auctions to benefit our respective scholarship and internship programs. (WATCH FOR NOTICES ON THOSE GOING OUT SOON!)

The joint convention is a trial to see if it increases attendance and decreases costs -- both of which are necessary for the continued success of both associations.

Congratulations to Kim Jung on her retirement from the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post! Kim put in 40 years of service at 1 paper, serving her community. Join us in wishing this STPA member the best of luck!

We’re saying so long to this legend in the community newspaper industry. She’s the best of the best and we appreciate her 40 years of service to Fredericksburg Publishing Company. Our reception will last until 2 pm. She will be missed but she has agreed to be on speed dial!
