We are honored to announce that PWSMD By Martha Melo has been selected as a recipient of a prestigious grant from The Grants and Programs for Small Business Initiative at The Miami Open For Business. Out of nearly 500 applications, a small group of business owners, including ourselves, were chosen to receive this honor, and we are infinitely grateful.

This grant marks a significant milestone for our company, allowing us to expand our print and digital marketing services to even more small business owners in our community. Our mission has always been to support small businesses in both good and challenging times, and this award empowers us to continue that commitment. We believe in giving back everything we've learned throughout our journey as a professional print service provider, combining our experience, love for service, and unique skills to make a difference.
We are blessed with the talent and dedication to use our gifts for a purpose that goes beyond our own needs. This grant is not only generous but also serves as a catalyst to provide world-class print and graphic design services to those who need it most, right here in South Miami-Dade.

Last week, we received the devastating news of the passing of Jacob Flickinger, the beloved son of our founding Director, John Flickinger.

Jacob died in a missile strike on a convoy of humanitarian aid workers in Gaza last week, where he was selflessly serving with World Central Kitchen.

A reflection of the guiding values of service leadership and community, Jacob lived with purpose and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. These values led him to the forefront of delivering essential aid in Gaza as the region faces threats of famine. Tragically, he, along with six other aid workers, lost their lives during a food distribution mission.

In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, we extend our support and compassion to the Flickinger family. We honor Jacob's memory, selfless dedication to humanity, and his family’s legacy of service.

May Jacob’s spirit of service inspire us all to strive for a better world, one where compassion and kindness prevail in the face of adversity.

Donations to support Jacob's 18-month-old son and partner are being collected on GoFundMe.

ATTENTION HOMESTEAD! The fight is not over. The applicant has appealed the decision to deny the landfill. We need you to make your voice heard in regards to the potential 211-acre landfill in our backyard.

On September 5, 2023, Mayor and Council approved a Resolution objecting to a potential landfill located in close proximity to Keys Gate and the Keys Gate Golf Course, near SW 157 Avenue and SW 359 Street. This objection comes in response to a letter submitted to Miami-Dade County requesting review of an application submitted to the City of Florida City for a Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris landfill. Other objections come from Homestead Air Reserve Base (HARB), which has stated that the potential landfill would be a hazard because it is located in the HARB’s flight path and could increase the presence of turkey vultures that, if hit by an airplane, would result in fatalities. If approved, the landfill could potentially cause increased:

•​traffic
•​noises
•​odors
•​fires
•​pests
•​road damages
•​groundwater impacts
•​surface water impacts
•​air emissions impact

We urge you to support the protection of Homestead and our community by contacting your Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioner. Please use the contact information below to contact your Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioner and let them know how you feel.
