Dumas, Texas is home great hotels, great restaurants and several huge industries that are the largest in Texas and the USA. These are just some of the amazing things to discover where US 87 and US 287 come together. We spent a few days exploring Dumas which is 45 minutes north of Amarillo and I-40. It's also half way between Dallas and Denver which makes Dumas a popular overnight stop for road trippers traveling between these two popular destinations.

Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum - Best Equestrian Attraction in the Carolinas
Awarded Best Equestrian Attraction in The Carolinas for 2024, the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates the great tradition of racing and Aiken's vital role in it. Forty championship thoroughbreds have trained at the famed Aiken Training Track and each have been immortalized in the Hal of Fame. Featured in the museum are photos, trophies and other memorabilia that highlight the careers of these famous racehorses. Also there are some interactive displays great for families and group tours. Open Tuesday - Friday 2-5 PM, Saturdays 10-5 PM and Sundays 2-5 PM. Closed on Mondays and major holidays.

LIVE IN TERRELL, TEXAS with Brett Allen on Roads To Adventure on US 80 in East Texas about a half hour drive from Dallas to the east. Rosa’s Mexican Cocina next to the QT is probably the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to for flavor and the service is among the best you’ll find anywhere so I had to share this place with you. It’s family owned and operated with love without a doubt! I started out with chips and salsa which the salsa is served warm and it’s incredible. I then had the birria taco plate with the charros beans which both were the best I’ve had anywhere and the rice which I’m not usually a rice fan - this was too good to stop eating and then for dessert it was the churros - 2 of them which are large and generously filled with a caramel type filling which was warm and delicious. Again the best I’ve had. To me Rosa’s knocked it out of the park with everything I had. Her and her family are amazing people and their passion shows✨

Roads To Adventure - Mescal Movie Set US 80 Arizona
We begin our 72 mile road trip series on US 80 in Cochise County in Southeastern Arizona with this first episode at the Mescal Movie Set a couple miles north of I-10 about 25 miles East of Tucson near Benson, AZ. The historic Mescal Movie Set has had over 80 movies filmed here including Tombstone, The Quick and the Dead, Young Riders, Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean. It went bankrupt during Covid and a local ranching family saved it from demolition and now movies are being filmed here, tours given and special events held once again.

Castroville Texas on Roads To Adventure US 90
In this episode we visit Castroville, Texas on US 90 as we explore what's on US 90 thru Texas. Just like all the communities we have visited on US 90, Castroville is definitely unique! Perhaps what is most amazing is that they have held on to their traditions and culture since the 1840's! This is also the largest community of Alsatians outside of Alsace, France which has a big German and Swiss influence making those that emigrated to Castroville French, German and Swiss and you see those influences in the many historical museums and buildings in town along with the customs. There is also a Mexican influence as this area was Mexico just a few years prior to their settlement. A truly amazing community and a must see only a half hour from downtown San Antonio!

On this road trip we visit Hondo, Texas on US 90. Hondo is only about 45 minutes from downtown San Antonio to the West on US 90 yet it feels like it is a town lost in time. From an Italian Limestone Court House to the place Geronimo was imprisoned for a short time on his way to his final destination, Hondo offers a lot of history. Some amazing local businesses offer things you won't find anywhere else. We'll show you some of what we experienced on our visit to this historic town. They also have a Radio Shack! What town or city can say that?

We start out West of Del Rio and stop by the Judge Roy Bean Museum and Rest Stop, talk to some snake hunters in the parking lot then we stop at two amazing gorges of the Pecos River and Eagle Nest Creek. Then we make our way to Del Rio with a stop at a Air Force fighter jet and the city dog park stop before we go to the Whitehead Memorial Museum's Pioneer Village. Winston and Hannah end up in jail on this episode as well.
