Succession is a topic we’ve tackled head on for the last few years. We have built scaffolding in a stepwise fashion to ensure the animals are continually the focus of our organization. We discuss everything from how we’ll deal with a tornado to how to pay the water bill. We train our team on how to access medical records, how to manage the finances, and who to call for local grass hay. Sharing knowledge with all the stakeholders in an easily accessible way is as important as having the right people responsible for those tasks every day.

Since the very first rescue that set Odd Man Inn in motion, Josh has served the organization with immense dedication, unparalleled energy, and a creativity that inspires. We are forever grateful for his contributions and sacrifices. We have the utmost respect for his personal decision to pursue other ventures, and we wish him all the best. He will be missed.

We thank you all for understanding that there are real humans with lots of emotions involved in every organization, and each of us is trying to make decisions that leave the world a better place. Your overall kindness for all parties involved is greatly appreciated. We take pride in having established a firm foundation for Odd Man Inn’s work to continue today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Daisy Mae is doing amazing , she is healed from her Cancer surgery and as hungry as ever .
She has to go to the to see the dentist next week to deal with a little gingivitis but other then that she is living her best life .

We commonly use the term “herd” to describe our pigs, but the real word is COMMUNITY. Pigs live as a community. They squabble and snuggle in fairly equal proportion. They pick favorites and not-so-favorites. They share values. They share meals. They understand rules and they occasionally try to get away with breaking them. They love and grieve and pout and express joy. It’s no different than a community of humans🤷🏻‍♀️
Scooter and Camilla Muppet spend their days roaming the MedBarn pasture together. They visit sweet Janice in her medical stall during meals and nap time🥺 They understand she’s limited, and they still love her just the same. They are a COMMUNITY. They don’t abandon her. They comfort her and visit her. They talk to her. They keep her company by choice. It’s lovely to see😭
We’ve been working on scheduling Janice’s surgery to have her elbow replaced. More to come👀👀👀
