Been seeing a lot of activity lately. I do appreciate the continued interest, and assure you, that while it may look like nothing is happening on the surface, this duck is all motion underneath.

If you still haven't "Like"d Average Zen, then you've been missing out on a lot of updates involving new material that's I've been uploading to our ReverbNation profile. One of the newest additions is a stripped down, early mix version of "Oh I, Oh Why" available for download for you gracious fans to peruse at your leisure. Secondly, we've posted the latest mixdown of the studio work-in-progress (complete with 20% more awesome, courtesy of Steve Garland's magic engineering and additional backup vocals) of "Oh I, Oh Why." I'm really excited about how this song is shaping up, I've got Anand Varghese looking into adding some lead guitar, my dad working on bass lines, and a handful of other talented local artists graciously donating their time and skills. I really can't wait for this song, in particular, to be finished. It's going to be a jaw-dropper

Been pretty deflated lately by non-musical demands. Still really trying to push for the Fall release of the Average Zen EP, though we're starting to flag behind on the production schedule. Gonna get into the studio today and see if I can't generate some momentum....

Still finding out how much I don't know about this industry. Just ran into my first ever "pay-to-play" scam. For those of you who, like me, hadn't heard of this, it's where a representative of a "booking company" will approach you and offer you a gig in exchange for signing up to their website where you have to pay a fee. Very shady -_- I googled reviews on the site before I made the decision NOT to sign up ;)

For those of you who still haven't 'Like'd the Average Zen FB page, there's a couple of new tracks available to listen to. Did some heavy editing and reposted "Disbelief" as well as a brand new song "Bit of Sunshine." If you DID already receive the news via the AZ page, well...now you know again :o

I set up the Average Zen (my band) page here on FB to try and promote the whole band, and it's linked to our reverbnation page, which rates us based on the number of fans we have (not a perfect system I'll admit). We've only got 9 fans on the "AZ" page. Help a starving artist make his dreams come true and Like "Average Zen"? Once the migration begins, I'll begin phasing out this page to avoid Feed clutter. Thanks!

Just a quick note. I accidentally uploaded a bad bit-rate version of "Be Free" to reverbnation. So if you listened to it recently, and it sounded a bit off, that's why. The problem has been corrected, happy listening =) I'm looking for additional avenues to post older material and, what I'm titling, "Mixing process demos" once I find a host.

TON of recording today, on new and old material. New track is called "Bit of Sunshine". Remixed and reuploaded "Be Free" (srsly this time), updated Average Zen's reverbnation.com page, our FB page, and this page. Check out the "Band/Artist Profile" buttons. For whatever reason FB will let everyone BUT people that already like me start off on that tab (which I think looks a LOT better). Silly FB =(

Did a late-night recording session last night with Mr. Garland putting down some bass tracks and myself recording a new guitar track for an, as of yet, untitled song. Held an impromptu practice session beforehand to feel it out with Sam and Steve joining in on flute and bass respectively. Mr. Jones, if you're listening, it's almost time :o

In an effort to be completely crazy, we're pushing up the recording schedule at Happy Room Studios . Shooting for principle recording to be finished by the end of this month on the "New Lease" EP, and I'm looking into booking some gigs in the 'Arlandria' area. Let the stress-induced chain-smoking and chocolate milk chugging begin!

was down in the studio for most of the day sorting through project files in an effort to free up some hard-drive space and make backups. Curiosity got the better of me, of course, and I started looking into all the recording sessions I've amassed, and all the untapped tracks that you guys are going to get to hear! I've gotta stop recording stuff and then forgetting about it :o
