She’s just a wee bit timid around humans but we have discovered her love for play, especially with lasers and wand toys, helps her to come out of her shell. As a longer-term resident CHHS Hero Pet, the adoption fee for Midnight is only $50 which includes already being spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV, FIV and heartworms, a free starter bag of food, and a free ID tag. Exciting News for Parkway Lovers! 🌄

On Friday, November 1, 2024, an additional six miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway opened for visitors, extending from Milepost 405.5 near NC Route 151 to Milepost 411.8 at NC Route 276. You can now access popular hikes like Frying Pan Tower and Mount Pisgah.

While the area is now open, please note that campgrounds, picnic areas, and other visitor services are closed for the 2024 season. Additionally, access north of Milepost 405.5 remains restricted due to a significant landslide at Milepost 401.6.

As recovery from recent storms continues, some local routes may still be affected. Visitors are advised to plan ahead, check road conditions, and stay informed about any hazards or closures.

This cutie pie is tentative at first with new people – especially men – and in new surroundings, but it doesn’t take much time for him to warm up and show his affectionate, loving nature. October 30 was Polly's last day with us as the best massage therapist ever! Anyone who ever had the privilege of receiving her skilled, compassionate massage therapy, also had the privilege of receiving her boundless, peaceful energy. We will miss her terribly but we are so happy she'll have more time with gardening and grandkids!
