Embrace the power of innovation during moments of reflection, not desperation. In the quiet spaces, find the creativity that propels you forward. It's not about fixing what's broken; it's about enhancing what's already strong.

People are always going to talk about you - good and bad - whether you're active online or not. Social media just means that word of mouth can travel 100x faster.

Having a social media manager means having someone plugged in (they even have tools for this) that can "listen" to what people are saying about your brand online.

They can:
🔥 Be proactive and get ahead of any wildfires
🔥 Respond to negative sentiments
🔥 Escalate certain issues to the appropriate department when necessary

But it's not all about the bad.

Your social media manager can also:
🌱 Source UGC
🌱 Collect market research to pass along to your developers
🌱 Manage reviews

They can even utilize outbound engagement strategically to participate in the conversations users are having - thus encouraging COMMUNITY, TRUST, and BRAND LOYALTY. Something you and your in-house marketing or creative director does NOT have time to do.

💪 Social media managers do more than just create and schedule posts. We are strategic partners in your business to help support your ever-evolving goals

👉 If you're looking to fill this gap in your social media marketing initiative, I'm booking March start dates now. Shoot me a message to see how I can support your company.

Revenue, number of sales, profit margins etc. I get that this is business. But can we take a minute to acknowledge the importance of the actual people that make our business possible?

🌲 The outdoor community (thought widely varied) is very close knit, united by common interests and a desire to be understood in a world that is becoming increasingly centered around modern comforts and easy living. It's not every day that you run into someone who enjoys carrying everything they need in a backpack and trekking across miles of rocky terrain through the elements with no cell service.

I'm planning my next backpacking trip now 🎒🥾 a short one because I'm out of practice (and shape). And it's a special breed of people who understand why I love it so much. And we LOVE the brands that help us get outside more.

Thank you to all the outdoor brands that feel our need to be understood and use your media power to bring us together. Thank you for inspiring conversations and camaraderie. And thanks for innovating the gear, guidance, and experience that helps us do what we love.

👉 Do you prioritize your people or your numbers first? There is no right or wrong answer. I'm genuinely curious.

01/29/2024

Have you seen this iconic outdoor industry rebrand? It's okay, you can drool 🤤

I'm a self-titled outdoorist 🥾 I love to hike and "get lost" in the backcountry, and that was part of my WHY for leaving veterinary medicine and pursuing an online social media career. I wanted the freedom and flexibility to explore when the itch hit 🏕️

But since going full-time as a social media manager, I've lost my way. I spend my days (and most nights) glued to my phone and laptop, only halfway present in real life most of the time 😵‍💫

So like Field and Stream , I'm "headed back home." Back to the joy in of being a freelancer, not an agency owner. Back to the industries that help me do what I love - teaching my kids to love and respect our world, getting outside with my pups, and exploring the backcountry with my hunky woodsman.

There will be shifts and changes coming here as I lean into my year of EXPLORATION. But I'll still be your go-to social media manager for human-first community and sales.

At some point we all feel misaligned or even lost in the daily grind. How do you course-correct?

The journey of slow and steady growth is like planting seeds that flourish into mighty Sequoia trees 🌳 These incredible feats of nature are some of the largest and OLDEST trees in the world. The oldest is over 3000 years old.

Even more interesting is their relationship with the wildfires that plague their native habitat in California 🔥 Not only have these ancient giants adapted to withstand the frequent wildfires... They actually depend on them for growth and expansion. Sequoia cones (think giant pine cones) require the heat of wildfires in order to open and release their seeds 🌱

Embrace the slower cadence of sustainable progress. It's not just about reaching heights quickly, but about building a foundation that withstands the test of time and even fire.

Beware the allure of rapid growth; like a blazing fire, it may consume you swiftly, leaving behind the stability you've cultivated. Choose the path of thoughtful expansion, where every step forward is firmly rooted in a commitment to lasting success.

What I’m looking for in 2024:

1. In-person networking opportunities 😱

2. Opportunities to consult companies on their in house social media marketing 💼

3. A 4-5 bedroom house in or near Trenton with no pet restrictions 🤪 (it’s a long shot, but I’m putting it out there!)

If you don’t put it out there, how will anyone know?

I’ve spent a lot of time being afraid to really own my profession in front of the local people I see every day - afraid of what people would think, what they would say. I’m going to work on that this year.

I know what you’re thinking…

You don’t even have time to get ONE platform down, and now I’m telling you that each one is different?! 🤯

Luckily, it’s not your job to know these things. As a small business owner, your job is to run, grow, and scale your business.

Social media marketing is a subcategory under marketing and growth - which makes it PERFECT to outsource while you maintain the overall vision and direction.

My job as a social media strategist and manager is to create and execute the plan that helps you reach your goals and bring your vision to life. I want you to know that your social media is not only getting taken care of but driving the results you want to see in your business without having to think about it 💁‍♀️

👉 So if handing off your social media to someone who knows the in’s-and-out so you can focus on being the CEO of your business sounds like a total dream, then get in my DMs and let’s chat!

I've been keeping a secret... 🙈

And that doesn't sit well with me because I'm always such a proponent of being honest with your audience. So I'm going to be super vulnerable and spill the beans.

I am an imposter!
Or at least, I've felt like one.

Since the beginning of the year, I've been working behind the scenes to pivot my business toward working with more local brands because I'm craving in-person connections. Weird, huh? After being so introverted for my whole life, I've finally hit a point where there can be TOO MUCH alone time.

The transition hasn't been easy, and not for any practical reasons. It's all imposter syndrome and comparison. And it's kept me from showing up for you and for myself. I've been scared of failing, looking like a fool IRL, and rejection. And that's kept me from showing up here.

But I've still been making moves. Over the past few weeks, I've connected with local businesses, given my first face-to-face social media strategy consult, and have two discovery calls set up today with local businesses. Apparently, the only one who thinks I'm an imposter is me 🤷‍♀️

Raise your hand if you've dealt with imposter syndrome recently 🙋‍♀️ And I better see a lot of hands raised because I we all deal with it...

🦜 What is something you will always think of when you hear the name Jimmy Buffett?

I was late to the boat and didn't really know who Jimmy Buffett was until I was married (my in-laws were MAJOR Parrotheads).

But from the moment I realized who he was, I knew Jimmy Buffett was a freaking master genius when it came to branding and marketing.

And it really boils down to three things.

🦜 He was REALLY good at being human. From his music to Margitaville, Jimmy Buffett had a knack for connecting with every heart in the audience.

🌊 He was consistent! He took breaks and took time to focus on his own physical and mental health and his family throughout his career. But his brand was always consistently recognizeable and true to its values, and when he showed up, you always knew what to expect from him.

🍹 He had FUN! Jimmy Buffett had fun when he worked and made sure his audience had fun, too. Fun is LITERALLY a part of his brand.

It can be that simple for all of us.
🦜 Connect
🌊 Be Consistent
🍹 Have FUN!

So what is something you will always think of when you hear the name Jimmy Buffett? 👇👇

I've experimented with devoting different amounts of time to social selling over the past year and a half, and here's why an HOUR PER DAY is exactly what you need.

An hour gives us more time to nurture your people and help them navigate the buyer's journey more efficiently. It also gives us two 30 minute blocks to work in so that current and potential sales conversations aren't left sitting for 24 hours.

When we can touch your sales conversations more than once per day, your conversion rate and time are dramatically improved. And when the potential buyers are slow to respond, we have more time to increase the number of conversations in your DMs (which means increasing your chances of successful sales).

Bottom line, let us show some love to your Instagram fam! Send us a message to chat!

M was already an expert at sales and business. But even after building two SUSTAINABLE 7-figure businesses and working in business consulting (in multiple countries) for over a decade, she STILL wanted to outsource her engagement and sales.

🤔 Why?
💥TIME + ENERGY💥

Being the CEO of two multi-million-dollar business and also being a toddler mom meant she had a lot on her plate. So when M decided to start a THIRD business - a one-stop-shop consulting agency for high-level women entrepreneurs - she knew from the START that she was going to outsource her engagement and social selling so that she could focus her own energy toward PR and visibility, her other already thriving businesses, and most importantly of all, her family.

As an entrepeneur, it's not a question of IF you're willing to sacrifice time and energy... It's what are you WILLING to sacrifice and what will you REGRET missing out on later? 👀

As a business owner, you have to decide what you enjoy and what is the best use of your time and energy. There will come a point where bootstrapping and DIYing EVERYTHING isn't going to be lucrative or rewarding. Saving a thousand dollars won't be worth the cost of staying up late to work, sacrificing moments of family vacations, and telling your toddler you can't right now because "Mommy's working."

If you want to know your audience is being cared for and loved and that sales are being pursued in the most compassionate, respectful, and EFFECTIVE way, then now is the time to slide in my DMs and talk about outsourcing your engagement and DM sales.

Raise your hand if you're building your business with kids at home? 🙋‍♀️ Me, too.

I went fulltime in by business in January 2022, but my youngest daughter was still in daycare. It really helped me embrace the whole freedome-based business philosophy - a big reason I started my business in the first place.

But as of January 2023, little miss priss has been at home with me fulltime. AND BOY, HAS IT BEEN A LEARNING EXPERIENCE! Not to mention I'm discovering that 13yo boys can be JUST as tempermental as 13yo girls 🤦‍♀️ Just last night, I called my mom, exasperated over the tantrums and attitudes we've had this week... and then I realized it was only Tuesday! 😩

I do get frustrated. I do yell. I do spend nights staying up late to work. I do work from my phone sometimes when I'm laying in bed trying to get the little to fall asleep. I'm far from perfect! In fact, most of the time I feel like I'm totally failing at this whole mom thing.

But then I remember that God is with me every step of the way, thank He understands my emotions and doens't judge me for being human, and that I've got a whole lot of things to be dang proud of myself for.

Raising kids from three to sixteen years old. Football, basketball, cheer. Healing my own trauma and investing in therapy. Paying rent that is almost double what my mortgage was. Transitioning from freelance lead gen and social selling to fledgling social media marketing agency. Holding space for my own joy in hiking, dancing, and a relationship with an amazing single dad who lives an hour away.

Now if you would have heard the chaos in this house yesterday morning, you'd know exactly why I feel like a failure so much of the time 😅 But I last night prayed for forgiveness and a fresh start, and this morning I prayed for God to put His hand on my shoulder when I get frustrated and to cover my mouth before I yell, and here we are. It's a new day. A chance to start over. A chance to achieve bigger and brighter things. A chance to say "good morning" "have a good day at school" and "I love you."

What are some of the things you are most proud of about being a mom and a CEO?

I think we've all had some crazy client moments 🤪 but this one taught me ALL the ways to completely murder a launch in 48 hours. And THIS is why I will not guarantee a sales or revenue goal for you 👇👇

1️⃣ He didn't include his entire team in the process when planning his launch. He didn't even tell us about it until just 48 hours prior ⌛ We had no time to strategize and implement actions to meet the goals he had for the launch. He had hired experts to handle certain aspects of his business (such as engagement and sales), but he didn't value our expertise when it conflicted with his desires.

2️⃣ When we pointed out that his audience was not ready to take the action he expected, he told us his program was "just that good" 💪 He didn't believe in taking time warm up his audience. This applied to content, engagement, etc.

3️⃣ Lack of price transparency and sleazy sales traps 🕵️ This client refused to reveal pricing anywhere other than a sales call. In this particular instance, he was selling a 4-figure health program to chronically ill "average Joes," and he disguised a free consultation (as a health professional) as a sales call. The typical consumer in his audience was desperate for help but either not prepared for or legitimately incapable of investing that much.

4️⃣ Lastly, he did not believe in building relationships or nurturing followers in the DMs. He believed that if someone followed him, they MUST want to buy into this program that he had literally told no one about ☠️

Needless to say, I didn't work with this guy long 🤮 NOTHING about his practices agreed with my heart-centered philosophies.

Let's all 😹 and share bad launch advice in the comments! 👇👇
