“It’s oppressive because it strips the right of Black folks to vote. It’s oppressive because it puts a military force over people that has no accountability to them. It’s oppressive because there will be judges who will determine sentences over people’s lives. It’s oppressive because it redirects their tax dollars to something they don’t endorse nor believe in,”

Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, calls proposed law ‘some of the most oppressive legislation in our city’s history’

Some of you may have caught a post I put out here a couple of weeks ago that was simply:

"Corporate profits are at a 70 year high, so why are we paying more for everything? "

It is starting to catch up to some of them now. We have to stay awake or we will be trampled by corporate greed. I know it isn't pleasant to talk or hear about, but it affects too many people to stand idly by while this goes on.

I applaud the Courier and Press for actually covering this. We don't see this in the main stream media much.

CEO David Lesar saw his compensation rise sharply in 2021 as Evansville-area customers continue to pay high electrical and natural gas bills.

There are a lot of things that Dr. King said that most Americans don't know, and frankly, don't want to know. He could see the system for what it is. It will help us all if we are willing to look at the ugly truth in order to stop it from being ugly.

Capital Police Officer Harry Dunn speaking about Fox News' coverage of the January 6 insurrection:

"…Spraying us, and fighting us, and hitting us with poles: show THAT clip. What do you have to say about that? .It goes against their narrative. It goes against their narrative and the whole thing about with Tucker Carlson; he had some words about me - Have me on your show! I'll go on.

They want to talk about you, not TO you. Talk to me, not about me. They didn't show that because it doesn't fit their narrative."

The big controversy now is Critical Race Theory (CRT). CRT is a legal and historical theory that puts forward the idea that discrimination was built in the framework of how the country was put together - that there was discriminatory elements place in areas of justice, commerce, and education.

There are many conservatives pushing and have legislated in states a prohibition of teaching it in schools. How they miss the irony of that, I don't know.

Here is a piece put together by the Encyclopedia Britannica that covers Critical Race Theory.

Critical race theory, intellectual movement and framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is a socially constructed category that is used to oppress and exploit people of color. Critical race theorists hold that the law and legal institutions in the United States are inherently raci...

This page will change its name very soon. It will be called The Social Justice Ledger. When this change happens, you will get a notification. The mission will be the same, but it will also be expanded a little and will not necessarily represent the views of the Human Relations Commission. You are all welcome to continue to follow this page to see information about justice in the tristate and nationally.

I have mentioned that there has been changes to the Henderson-Henderson County Human Relations Commission that will affect this page. The agency now is called the Henderson-Henderson County Human Rights Commission. It has a new page. You can find it here at this link. https://www.facebook.com/Henderson-Henderson-County-Human-Rights-Commission-Henderson-KY-108012901644452

Please go and follow that page to get detailed information about HRC business and activities. That is how you can continue to support the commission's mission.

"In legal cannabis states, overall rates of cannabis arrests have decreased. However, Black and Hispanic individuals are still more likely subjected to arrest than their White counterparts."

The findings show that legalization has not increased daily cannabis use among the general population in legal cannabis states, but racial discrimination persists.
