Today, we honor Sacagawea (also spelled Sakakawea or Sacajawea), the courageous Lemhi Shoshone woman who, at just 16, served as an interpreter and guide during the Lewis & Clark Expedition. Her strength, resilience, and legacy continue to inspire generations.

You can explore her story and the world she helped the Corps of Discovery navigate in several Farcountry Press books.

Here’s to remembering Sacagawea’s remarkable impact on history.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of author Phyllis J. Perry.

Phyllis was a gifted storyteller, a meticulous researcher, and a compassionate historian whose work shed light on the resilience, courage, and community that emerge in the face of disaster. Her books “California Disasters” and “Colorado Disasters”, continue to honor the survivors, heroes, and lessons found in some of the West’s most dramatic moments.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and everyone touched by her life and work. Her voice and her stories will be greatly missed. 💛
