Aside from photography, I have a knack for writing ✍️ here’s a little bit more of my creative work 📖🫶🏼🎬
I’m working on a few children’s books as well as a few mature writings as well! Here’s a short story for your late night 🦉
A New Dawn 📖 👀 ☕️
In the sleepy town of Ettlewood, nestled between rolling hills and dense forests, lived a girl named Maddison. From the outside, her home appeared quaint and charming, a picture of rustic tranquility. But inside, Maddison's world was anything but peaceful. Her parents, consumed by their own demons, unleashed their anger and frustration on her daily. The bruises and scars were hidden beneath long sleeves and forced smiles.
Maddison had always dreamed of escape. She longed for a life where she didn't have to flinch at every loud noise or brace herself for the next bout of rage. At twelve, she made the boldest decision of her life. One night, under the cover of darkness, she slipped out of the house with nothing but a small backpack and her determination. She didn’t have a clear plan, only an unyielding desire to be free.
The system was a turbulent place. Foster homes were a revolving door, some offering fleeting glimpses of kindness, others echoing her past. But through it all, Maddison held onto her dream. She excelled in school, finding solace in books and the knowledge that her mind could take her places her body could not.
At eighteen, Maddison aged out of the system. She was alone again, but this time, she had a high school diploma and a fierce resolve. She took on multiple jobs, saved every penny, and applied for college scholarships. Her hard work paid off, and soon she was enrolled at a state university, studying social work. She wanted to help kids like her, to be the lifeline she had so desperately needed.
Years passed, and Maddison had transformed. She was no longer the scared girl hiding in the shadows but a confident young woman making her mark on the world. She graduated with honors, securing a job at a non-profit organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth. Her own experiences gave her a unique insight and empathy that her colleagues admired.
One crisp autumn afternoon, as Maddison walked through the bustling city streets, she caught sight of her reflection in a store window. She hardly recognized the poised, smiling woman looking back at her. She had a small apartment, a job she loved, and friends who felt more like family. For the first time, she felt truly safe, truly happy.
Her past was a part of her, a painful yet essential chapter in her story. It had shaped her, given her strength and compassion. But it no longer defined her. Maddison had built a new life, one filled with hope and possibility, a life she had never dared to dream of during those dark nights in Ettlewood.
As she stood there, bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun, Maddison realized she had found something even more precious than freedom. She had found herself.
