Good morning,

We began the day with sunny conditions, but this will change around noon as our next system moves in. The majority of us will experience rain, with the exception of the northern tier near the New York border, where precipitation will transition to snow later this evening. Expected rainfall amounts are around 0.25 inches, with minor snowfall accumulations in the northern regions. The system will exit by midnight, leaving behind some lingering snow showers.

Friday presents an interesting scenario, as models are indicating the development of an inverted trough. This is essentially a bulge in atmospheric pressure associated with the low pressure system off the coast. While these two systems are not expected to merge into a major snowstorm, recent model runs have consistently highlighted this feature. What does this mean? It suggests we could see additional snowfall in certain areas, potentially leading to a few extra inches. However, inverted troughs are challenging to forecast, particularly in terms of where they will set up. If this feature materializes as predicted, we could see a couple of inches of snow. We will monitor this closely as we approach Friday, and will issue a more detailed map if necessary. The timing of this event appears to be Friday afternoon through the overnight hours.

Please stay tuned for further updates.

The MOST important day to have snow on the ground will always be Christmas Day 🎄. Now it won’t be falling on Christmas but whatever light amount we see on Friday will hopefully stay there as it will be cold enough to not melt away. Now obviously we can’t promise anything and some places have better chances than others, let’s just cross our fingers and hope it works out.

If guidance is correct it would be a small amount of snow cover mostly an inch or so, just enough to cover the grass (hopefully).

Temperatures today will be near 50° as we have synoptically driven warmth. Tomorrow afternoon another system moves in bringing with it rain for most of us with some chances of snow/mix in the northern tier.

The hyped up system on Friday/Saturday simply isn’t happening. The northern stream will not catch up to its southern counterpart as highlighted in image 2. We may see some snow showers Friday afternoon but that’s about it for that. The real story is what comes after, this weekend. Bitterly cold temperatures will flood into our area Saturday bringing us highs in the 20s and overnight lows in the teens. Sunday is even worse with highs most likely not even making it to 20° and Sunday night lows in the single digits. Luckily I’m not seeing much in the way of winds. Even light winds however will bring the apparent temperatures into the negatives. It’s a safe bet if you’re taking the dog out Sunday morning it will feel about -5°.

So far this has been a wild ride with temperatures.

Here’s the overnight rain moving in. Again, 0.25” to 0.50”. Keep in mind dense fog tonight and tomorrow morning is likely given the warm airmass/rain overtop of cold and/or snow covered ground especially in higher elevations. Visibilities can drop below 1/2 or less.

Morning.

From the reports I’m seeing a general 1-3” fell region wide. Temperatures will increase today near 50° with some rain showers followed by steadier rain tonight. We are looking between 0.25” to 0.50”.

The script is flipped come the second half of the week with temperatures again cratering into the teens and 20s by this weekend.

We have a couple more shots of snow between now and Christmas. We will talk about them later on today or tomorrow.

Morning.
No changes to the forecast we released yesterday. The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories which are effective from this evening until Monday morning.

**Sunday into Monday Morning Snow/Ice Forecast**

A weak weather system will move into the area Sunday afternoon and continue into Monday morning. High pressure over Maine tomorrow will lead to cold air damming, keeping temperatures low enough to support snow in higher elevations.

Snow showers are expected to begin Sunday afternoon, between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, followed by steadier snowfall overnight into Monday morning. The valley cities will likely experience rain, as the cold air damming may not hold at lower elevations. However, any amount of ice can be hazardous, so it is important to stay informed. The snow is expected to exit the region between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM Monday. Due to the potential for wintry precipitation, delays are possible.

While the system itself is relatively moisture-starved and typically wouldn't cause significant issues, the timing—particularly during the Monday morning commute—makes it important to share this information.

After the system exits Monday, we will see milder temperatures until the next system arrives Wednesday, bringing a return to colder, winter-like conditions.

Good morning.

Woke up this morning to take the dog out and was greeted with 8° temperatures. The good news is they’re on the rise, the bad news, they won’t get above freezing. We will have highs today in the upper 20s to low 30s, but plenty of sunshine so it will look deceiving.

We are tracking a weak system that will move in Sunday evening through Monday morning. There will cold air damming so this will bring ice minor snow accumulations and even some ice. We will have a map and a finer detailed forecast out later on today.

Enjoy your Saturday :)

Sunny and highs only in the upper 20s. Our local ski resorts are taking full advantage of the temperatures as they restarted snow making given the past couple warm rainy days. Lows tonight will go down into the single digits outside of the valley and the valley will be around 10°, so it’ll be frigid.

As mentioned yesterday we do warm up early next week which will be slightly above average with chances of rain and snow showers.

We do have a couple of storm signals down the pike. Around next Saturday is the most promising. Now please understand when we say storm signal we aren’t guaranteeing snow or rain. We are merely saying there is a higher than average probability of a storm that isn’t typical showers around that timeframe. There’s quite of bit of time to iron out details and computer models will do what they do so just keep it in the back of your mind that (of course) the weekend before Christmas there might be “something”.

Have a great Friday.

Good morning,

We've experienced a complete shift in temperatures over the past few days. We're entering a stretch where highs will struggle to reach freezing, with lows dipping into the teens, followed by a brief warm-up early next week. It's truly a rollercoaster, and we’re just along for the ride. The airport recorded 1.56” of rainfall, which has helped alleviate our deficit, a welcome change.

This morning, there are some squalls and snow showers in the area, which may leave a quick dusting, enough to make roads slippery. Friday and Saturday will bring plenty of sunshine, although it will remain cold. The next chance for snow showers and rain will arrive Sunday night into Monday.

Just an absolute mess.

Look for the changeover to begin around 6-7pm. Again, not expecting anything for accumulations except for maybe a coating in the highest of elevations. Temperatures are on their way down. Into the 40s as if 4:50pm. Low temperatures will bottom out over night in the mid to upper 20s.

Tomorrow’s highs probably won’t make it above freezing either. As mentioned over and and over slippery roads are possible tomorrow morning especially on non treated roads so be careful.

Current temperatures and current radar. Temperatures are on the way down. 50s where we live and 30s just to our west. You can also see some snow showing up on radar where temperatures are conducive.

Winds will pick up with the arrival of the cold front due to cold air advection. I hope this will be enough to dry things out enough but we can’t count on it. As temperatures fall over night into tomorrow black ice, anywhere there is runoff and standing water will freeze. The road crews couldn’t pre treat due to it being washed away with the rain, so expect some delays tomorrow morning especially on secondary roadways or any road for that matter that hasn’t been treated.

Let’s play a game…
Find the cold front.

Currently WB/Scr Int Airport is sitting at 54°, I think it tops out around 58-59°. It will be short lived as temperatures will begin to plummet this afternoon. Low temperatures tomorrow morning will be back in the 20s. With all this rain the concern here is black ice and any runoff or standing water freezing.
