Good morning,
We began the day with sunny conditions, but this will change around noon as our next system moves in. The majority of us will experience rain, with the exception of the northern tier near the New York border, where precipitation will transition to snow later this evening. Expected rainfall amounts are around 0.25 inches, with minor snowfall accumulations in the northern regions. The system will exit by midnight, leaving behind some lingering snow showers.
Friday presents an interesting scenario, as models are indicating the development of an inverted trough. This is essentially a bulge in atmospheric pressure associated with the low pressure system off the coast. While these two systems are not expected to merge into a major snowstorm, recent model runs have consistently highlighted this feature. What does this mean? It suggests we could see additional snowfall in certain areas, potentially leading to a few extra inches. However, inverted troughs are challenging to forecast, particularly in terms of where they will set up. If this feature materializes as predicted, we could see a couple of inches of snow. We will monitor this closely as we approach Friday, and will issue a more detailed map if necessary. The timing of this event appears to be Friday afternoon through the overnight hours.
Please stay tuned for further updates.
