Today we in the United States observe Memorial Day. A holiday meant to serve in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the line of duty serving within the United State military.

Unfortunately, many who lost their lives did so at their own hand. Su***de occurs within both the community of citizens still within service as well as after leaving active duty. Today we must remember all service members who lost their lives regardless of the circumstances.

One Stoplight Productions found an opportunity to cover an organization within our region that is trying to tip the balances and give hope to veterans who are confronted with the mental instability that may lead to self harm. The work performed at HOOVES is a testament to the ability for community and connection to bring people back from the brink. We are happy to share this with the world.

What is Getting Stable?
Amanda Held, a veteran and lifelong equestrian, felt compelled to help her fellow American military veterans to heal from the psychological impacts of armed combat and tours of duty. Leaning on her lifelong experience and love of horses, she formed Healing of Veterans through Equine-Assisted Service, commonly known as H.O.O.V.E.S. Veterans of the United States military services enter into the H.O.O.V.E.S. program whose mission is to use rescue horses to heal and empower them through training exercises. Getting Stable follows both Amanda as she runs the program and the participants themselves as they both seek the power of healing from interacting with horses.

We're thrilled to announce that our documentary "Getting Stable" by One Stoplight Productions, LLC has won TWO awards at the prestigious EQUUS Film Festival! 🌟

🥇 Our first accolade is a $1,000 prize from Lynn Thomas’s foundation Horses for Mental Health, recognizing us as the Best Film for Mental Health. This honor reflects our dedication to showcasing the therapeutic power of horses.

🥇 The second is another $1,000 award from the Networ for Best Film. We're honored and humbled by this recognition.

📺 Excitingly, "Getting Stable" will be featured during the Equine Network's 2024 Horse Week, sharing our story with a broader audience.

But, this weekend was about much more than awards. It was a celebration of connection, collaboration, vision, and impact. We've built incredible relationships and shared inspiring ideas that will propel us forward.

A heartfelt thank you to Lisa Diersen, the founder of the EQUUS Film & Arts Fest, for her incredible effort in organizing such a meaningful event. Your dedication to the equine film community is truly admirable.

The Getting Stable team is thrilled to announce that our film has been accepted as an official selection of the EQUUS Film & Arts Festival Mustang Summit! The event is occurring November 16 - 19 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

We are happy to announce that Getting Stable has been accepted into the 2023 East Lansing Film Festival! Our short will be running alongside another short documentary and will be shown twice during the duration of the festival.

Times for the showings of both documentaries will be on Saturday, November 11 at 1:30pm and Wednesday, November 15 at 3:30pm.

We hope to see you out at this festival supporting not only our film but all the other entrants!

Sometimes the most observant participant in life is the object we pass by every day. In The Keepsake, we see the life of one man change drastically over a series of events physically surrounding a car one man inherits. Starring Denny Walker Crum and Maddie Zellmer, this short explores life from an outside observer.

The Keepsake was One Stoplight Production's first award winning film, having won second place at the Maumee Film Festival. The short was written as director Clinton LaForest was preparing for fatherhood and used writing to explore and expel some of his fears going into a life altering experience.

In 2011, Amanda Held took the reins in creating H.O.O.V.E.S., Healing Of Our Veterans through Equine Services with the goal of helping Veterans in coming out of the same and similiar struggles that she herself experienced after dedicating part of her life toward the protection of the United States of America. Her personal struggles, conviction, and hope have seen her and the organization through 6 years of building and continued growth. Over the years, H.O.O.V.E.S. has changed but always with the same goal in mind, the healing of Veterans.

The documentary, Getting Stable, showcases the efforts of Amanda and H.O.O.V.E.S. in achieving their goal. Our film visits with people involved in making this possible and with Veterans whom the organization has touched over the years. We hope to share with people the dedication and drive that this effort takes as well as the sacrifice each person has endured in making this possible.

Our post production team is hard at work on upcoming films from our studio. One such title is While He Sleeps.

This light hearted take on the struggles of menopausal insomnia follows along with our main character as she struggles to sleep. While her husband sleeps through the night, see what a woman really can get done while her other half is able to rest without problem.

We hope you will enjoy this short comedy when it completes within the coming months!

Our team at One Stoplight Productions is excited beyond words to say that our film, Getting Stable, is now wrapped!

Years ago, we realized that our schedules did not allow for us to give the time needed to bring this film to a conclusion. At that point we began looking for a filmmaker who could finish what we started over 7 years ago. Happily, we found Vanessa Leonard, writer and director of the acclaimed A Story Worth Living, to take on the project.

Vanessa took on the vision and worked with Healing Of Our Veterans through Equine Services (HOOVES) to finish the film and bring a little light to an organization doing great things for our Veterans.

Join us in celebrating the origin and impact of HOOVES in the very near future in festival screenings, streaming services, and in person screenings. We will continue t keep everyone up to date on what is next to come for Getting Stable and all of our films at One Stoplight Productions!
