Claus Futtrup explores more loudspeaker design options and this time explains the Linkwitz-Riley (LR4) Bass Reflex Alignment. Next up, Mike Klasco and Nora Wong compiled an updated industry directory of Headphone Test & Measurement Equipment. In Acoustic Patents, James Croft revisits an important invention from Bang & Olufsen, which has meanwhile been granted the respective patent. And for this month's Test Bench, Vance Dickason focused on professional audio and specifically woofers for sound reinforcement applications. The first driver he characterizes is the new Wavecor WF211PA01 8.25" woofer, intended for pro audio and offering a high level of performance as could be expected from the company. The second driver is from FaitalPRO, and is the powerful and versatile 10PR330 10" woofer, suitable for large PA systems and even bass guitar cabinets.

Audio, which has manufacturing in Italy and engineering in Sweden, has recently released two rather interesting thin-profile 10" woofers, the UF295CBS, and the UF295FAS. Both woofers have a voice coil and motor structure located around the rim of the cone assembly, and both use and front and rear facing NBR surrounds for compliance. The UF295CBS was designed for small closed box subwoofer applications, while the UF295FAS is a a pure dipole woofer with a Fiberglass/Rohacell dome suspended directly on the voice coil.
