Last year, I had the opportunity to bring to a slew of impactful Kwanzaa events in the Western Mass area. Due to unfortunate setbacks, I couldn't make it out there this year, but there are very few cultural celebrations happening during the Kwanzaa season in the greater Hartford area to bring my kids to (If you know any, send them my way please 🤗). Representation is key to keeping our traditions & stories alive for the next generation!

Despite how difficult it has been to get it together this year, I'm proud to be hosting Afro Hrs 3rd Annual Kwanzaa Karamu this Sunday! Come through to enjoy:

On Sunday, I had the opportunity to create a Menstrual Wellness Station for the Back to School Fair behind Fresh 5 Deli on behalf of Love Your Menses For those that do not know I've been the CT Program Coordinator since March 2023 and the mission is to end period poverty and make menstrual product and health education accessible for all! I've had some really great collaborations and this one was one of my favorites! Thank you to Maurice 'Splash' Eastwood and the Seek Therapy team for giving us the space to share the mission and give back. We were honored to supply over 200 menstrual kits to students and adults alike, and even open the door for many Fathers & Mothers who don't know how to start the conversation with their daughters to have support they otherwise may have shyed away from. Earlier this month, I had a night to remember at @thewebsterct in Hartford! Watching KRS-One perform was incredible, but what made it truly special was seeing my mentors, @djqboogie (founder of the @femaledjassociation) and @dj_jimmy_jam (the first to show me scratching techniques), open for THE teacher! My girl @jennyboomboom was hosting, and one of my favorite local artists & humans, @pocahtherebel , was an opening act. It felt like all of my favorites in one place. Everyone was phenomenal, and it was a powerful reminder of the impact mentors can have on your journey. I even got the chance to meet @teacha_krsone and @djtonycrush!
