Harrisonburg City Council’s 2025 Reorganization Meeting took place this morning, with newly elected Councilman Nasser Alsaadun being sworn in along with re-elected Councilmembers Laura Dent and Deanna Reed. Reed was selected as Mayor by her colleagues, with Dany Fleming being selected as Council’s newest Vice Mayor. Residents may place their Christmas trees curbside on their regularly scheduled bulk/yard debris collection day. Please remove all lights and ornaments from trees before placing out for collection. Trees may also be dropped off at the Recycling Convenience Center during regular business hours.

City of Harrisonburg offices are closed today Wednesday, January 1, 2025 in observance of the New Year's holiday. City offices will reopen Thursday, January 2 at 8:00am.

Bulk and yard debris collection for today has been cancelled. Please hold until your next collection on January 15.

The Recycling Convenience Center and Mobile Unit are also closed today, Wednesday, January 1.

There will be no bus service today, New Year's Day (January 1).

Harrisonburg Public Works is unwrapping a special service this holiday season! 🎄

Harrisonburg Residents may now reserve any Friday of the month (excluding Friday holidays) to have their cardboard materials picked up.

Follow these steps to make a reservation:
1. Email Harrisonburg Public Works at [email protected] and provide the following:
♻ Name
♻ Pickup Address
♻ Email Address
♻ Desired Friday Pickup Date
2. Make sure your reservation is placed by Thursday at Noon for Friday collection.
3. Make sure your cardboard is broken down and placed where you normally place your Trash Toter.
4. Harrisonburg Public Works Sanitation crews will come collect your cardboard on your reserved Friday after 7:00am.
