Hardwick Vineyard & Winery

Hardwick Vineyard & Winery Cheers to the Spring Season! Hardwick Winery is open year round, 7 days a week! Warner mansion, built in 1795, watching it deteriorate. Warner.

The Hardwick Vineyard and Winery is a local family winery, proudly operated by founder and owner John Samek, and located on a quiet country road that winds around the Quabbin Reservoir, in the central Massachusetts town of Hardwick. For more than a decade the Samek family drove down this road with their eyes on the abandoned Giles E. They dreamed of starting a vineyard and winery, and saw potent

ial in the two-hundred-year-old house, built while George Washington was president. In 1997, the family bought the house and its 150 acres of land, and began the painstaking process of authentically restoring it. The original house was built before electricity or plumbing, and the Sameks maintained that historical aspect in the restoration, which took nearly five years. They also added a modern section to the house, using old-fashioned techniques, and cut oak from the farm to build a 5,000-square-foot timber frame barn using mortise and tenon joints. During the restoration of the house, they had some unexpected help—from neighbors, who shared photos of the original interior and returned missing items, such as a door latch and stone post—and from one of the home’s three previous owners, who left a treasure of bills stashed in mason jars in the farm’s stone walls. Today the mansion is fully restored to its original grandeur, and the unique fan window over the main door pays tribute to the long journey, hiding a “W” in its curves, for the house’s first owner, Giles E. While the house renovations were underway, the Sameks also started clearing the land to plant grapes. They now grow six varieties of French hybrid grapes and produce about 3,500 gallons of wine every year. The bestseller is their Massetts. Cranberry, blending hybrid grapes with the tart cranberries from another Hardwick farmer. The wine’s name comes from the abbreviation used for Massachusetts during the nation’s federal era, the time period of the house that started it all. Now celebrating its twenty-fifth year, the family winery is proudly operated by founder John Samek. The Samek family invites you to visit the farm, vineyard, and winery. Whether you come for a wine tasting or a wedding, whether you stay for an hour or overnight, you are encouraged to enjoy the house and its history, as well as the vineyard, gardens, and mountain vistas.

“Don’t Wine If You’re Murdered”… 🍷🍷🍷

About the Show:
Helena Handbasket is throwing a Wine Tasting to end all winetastings. She has invited none other than the world famous U. Paul. McCork. His assistant Manny Shevitz, makes sure all is ready for the event, while Bobby Vintage and Vera Goodyear hope to gleen some of the knowledge Mr McCork will share as well as getting a really good, long look at the bottle of Chateau Fromage 81, that he carries with him everywhere he goes. It has been valued at over $1.3 milllion. Sadly, someone doesn’t share the accolades of Mr McCork and decides this will be his last winetasting, ever. Come along and help figure out who committed the crime and enjoy a great meal and perhaps a glass of a very special wine.

All of our dinner theater shows are interactive comedies. Participation includes questioning suspects, contests, reading lines or possibly even playing a role!

3 Course Dinner included in ticket-
Course 1: Berry & Feta Summer Salad with vidalia vinegrette
Course 2: Choice of BBQ Chicken, Lemon Herb Salmon, or Caprese Stuffed Mushroom all served with roasted potato and seasonal vegetable. (Served during first intermission ~ 7:30pm)
