For day seven, the last day of this challenge I am posting another of my stoneware pots. This traditional style vase is glazed in my bone ash glaze. Like the stoneware casserole I posted on day one this is a form and glaze I have used for over 30 years. I nominate Carolyn August for the seven pots in seven days challenge!

For day five of the seven day challenge I am posting a decorative plate which I hand painted and fired to low fire temperatures. These pieces are all commission pieces or celebration plates I make for special occasions like births, anniversaries and retirements. Often I personalize them on the back with a special message for the recipient. I love painting with low fire glaze because the colors are so bright and the actual glaze decorating process is so different from the way I glaze my stoneware. It's very detailed vs. the oxide splashes on my stoneware.

For Day 4 of the seven day challenge I have selected another piece of my Raku pottery. A simple form but great crackle and some bold color to complete the piece.

For day three of the seven day challenge I am posting a picture of my Raku pottery. I learned the art of firing Raku from my husband Bill. I've added my own touches including applying alcohol ink to the finished crackle glaze. I get wonderful colors doing this. And of course I couldn't help perching a few birds on this one. I love my birds. (And Tom - you have this one too - this exact one!!)

Day two of the seven day challenge. In addition to wheel throwing I've been making slab built trays and baking dishes for years. This is my large serving tray with a new glaze combination I started using last year. It's actually the blue glaze I use with my frost glaze on mugs and vases in combination with this rust colored glaze I used probably 35 years ago. Where the two glazes overlap I carefully 'splash at random' five oxide washes for more color.

I have been nominated by Elizabeth Krome for the seven pots in seven days challenge. I'm starting with a form I've been making for years - the lidded casserole. This particular pot is glaze in my frost glaze which I guess you could call my signature glaze. Been using it for years and still love it.

We finished off this year's raku class on Wednesday with a bang! Cindee did a terrific job getting her piece from the kiln to the reduction can. And it turned out beautifully! When I get a picture of the finished piece I'll post it.

This piece is a wheel thrown and hand carved pottery vase fired in the Raku tradition using sawdust and newspaper in the reduction chamber. I use both a metallic and white crackle glaze. After the pot is fired and cooled I apply alcohol ink over the crackle glaze for color, seal it
