Our 1916 Buzzards Bay 15 footer is on her mooring after the wind, weather and tide came together for an evening launch. We had the usual, though surprisingly steady, leaks that made us uneasy enough to tie up over night at a local boat club that was nice enough to lend us shore power to keep the battery charged over night. The next morning she was swelled up tight and we were off to the mooring under oar. With thunder storms threatening, we put off bending on the sails. Good thing we had the ash breeze to help us along.

Congratulations to Carter Richardson and East Passage Boatwrights of Bristol, RI for their new introduction, the East Passage 24 (EP 24), seen on the cover of Soundings Magazine. We dressed her up a little with our bronze jewelry. Also, kudos to Tyler Fields for the stunning photography.

Scud, a 1903 Bar Harbor 31 and Corinthian, a 1911 P Class racer; both Herreshoffs newly restored during the Covid-19 pandemic with our hardware racing at Saint Trope October 4. Kudos to Federico Nardi and the team at Cantiere Navale Dell'Argentario, and John Anderson for the restorations and to the sailing crews for impressive first time outings.

After a two year restoration, Scud takes first on her first time out.

« Mon équipage et moi-même voulons remercier toute l’organisation. La semaine a été très intéressante. Les trois premiers jours de régate ont été difficiles avec du vent très changeant. Ils ont fait un très bon travail en mer mais aussi à terre en cette période difficile à cause du Covid-19 ».

After two years of research, planning and work, SCUD, the Herreshoff built 1903 Bar Harbor 30 Class sloop, HMCo. #603 takes to the waters off Porto Santo Stefano Italy in late July for her first sea trials. It was an honor and a privilege to be asked to be part of this grand project. The boat was found in Belgium as a very sad derelict, having been completely stripped of her hardware and rig. She was then trucked to Italy, arriving there in early spring of 2019. During the following months, we produced nearly every single piece of bronze hardware for her, while Federico Nardi, director of Cantiere Navale dell'Argentario in Porto Santo Stefano and his crew completely rebuilt the hull and rig, and managed the project. The last of seven shipments from us arriving just as Italy was shutting down for Covid-19 in March. This is our second collaboration with Federico Nardi. The first, the 1905 NY 30 Linnet, twenty three years ago, was our first big project. We had planned to go over for her launching, but ... Corona! Happily everyone here and there is fine.
