LTC Sean Kilcomons and command staff recently attended the Middlesex County 200 Club awards ceremony, where Detective Sergeant Anthony Giunta, Detective I Nagib Saad, Detective I Robert Aranda, and Sergeant Jerome Gordon were honored.

During September 2023, the Garden State Parkway service areas experienced a surge in armed robberies, with four incidents occurring within a week, three in Middlesex County and one in Union County. Detectives from NJSP Bloomfield Station's Criminal Investigation Office discovered that the same suspects were responsible for approximately 40 crimes across six counties, including eight armed robberies, residential and commercial burglaries, vehicle thefts, credit card theft, and weapons offenses. Two critical suspects from Newark were apprehended on September 13 and 25, 2023, confessing to their roles in the crimes. The detectives' meticulous evidence collection and collaboration with law enforcement partners led to the recovery of a firearm and the suspects' confessions, bringing an end to the crime spree and moving the case to Federal prosecution. Their unwavering dedication and exemplary work have brought great credit to the New Jersey State Police.

In 2009, Sgt. Jerome Gordon, then a Rowan University Football team member, registered with the "Be the Match" organization, which pairs potential bone marrow donors with recipients. In April 2023, he was contacted as a possible match for a 35-year-old woman with leukemia. After undergoing thorough medical evaluations, it was confirmed that he was a match, and his donation was scheduled for May 16, 2023, in Providence, Rhode Island. In the days leading up to the donation, Sgt. Gordon took medication to increase his blood-forming cells. He donated his stem cells on the scheduled date without knowing the recipient. His selfless act offers the recipient a chance for recovery and demonstrates his bravery and compassion, bringing pride to himself and the Division of State Police.

A specially designed police car in the Holland Tunnel, NY.

Patrolmen who regulate the flow of traffic through the Holland Tunnel recently tested a miniature electric car that rolls along the tunnel’s “catwalk”. The car is designed to give the officers greater control over traffic by permitting them to cover tunnel posts faster. It was tested on a 2200-foot run of miniature railroad track. Only two feet wide, the 1300 pound car can be driven in either direction from a swivel seat inside the glass-enclosed cab. Push buttons control the speed at six or twelve miles per hour. A 240-volt, three-horse-power motor powers the car.

Save the Date!

Skylands Stadium July 19th!!!
4pm - Softball game
7pm - Miners vs. Titans

Join us for an exciting charity softball game as the New Jersey State Police take on the Pennsylvania State Police! Watch troopers showcase their skills on the field while supporting a great cause. Bring your family and friends for a fun-filled day of community spirit and sportsmanship. Don’t miss it!

All proceeds will benefit SFC Sean Acker (NJSP), who went into cardiac arrest caused by a blood clot, which led to a pulmonary embolism. Because his heart stopped for an extended period, Acker sustained a traumatic brain injury; Jack, an 18-year-old senior at Sussex Tech, who was involved in a serious car crash that resulted in the loss of both his legs, and the Dorso Family Charitable Foundation. Stay tuned for more updates. Let’s hit a home run for charity!

After the softball game, Detective I Miguel Hidalgo, who signed a one-day contract (to be donated) with the Sussex County Miners, will play in the Miners vs Ottawa Titans game.
