FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Water Tower Painting Notice
The City of Guthrie is announcing the commencement of a significant infrastructure improvement project as G&L Construction prepares to begin work on the eastside water tower. These essential upgrades, funded by CIP #2 and part of the “Growing Guthrie” initiative, are necessary to ensure continued reliable water service for our residents.
Crews are expected to arrive on or around January 8, 2025, with the project beginning in earnest on January 13, 2025, when the tower will be drained. The project includes sandblasting the existing paint off both the interior and exterior of the tower, a process that is anticipated to take 3 to 4 weeks, weather permitting. Please note that this process will be extremely loud, and residents in the surrounding area should expect significant noise during daytime working hours. Once sandblasting is complete, crews will begin painting the tower, which is expected to take an additional 3 to 4 weeks depending on weather conditions.
During this time, residents are encouraged to conserve water usage to assist in maintaining adequate water pressure and supply as this critical work is carried out.
Important Details for Residents:
• The westside water tower will continue to supply water to the city during the project.
• Any residents experiencing low or no water pressure should contact Public Works immediately at (405) 282-8400.
• After-hours emergencies can be reported through dispatch at (405) 282-3535.
The westside water tower is scheduled for similar upgrades later this summer as part of the ongoing effort to enhance Guthrie’s water infrastructure.
We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation as we work to complete these necessary improvements. Regular updates will be provided through the City of Guthrie’s website and social media channels to keep residents informed throughout the project.
