AMERICAN PICKERS COMING TO ‘BAMA.
The American Pickers are excited to return to Alabama! They plan to film episodes of The History Channel hit television series throughout your area in December 2024.
AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking” on The History Channel. The hit show follows skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques. They are always excited to find historically significant or rare items, in addition to unforgettable Characters and their collections.
As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, the Pickers are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics. Along the way, they want to meet characters with amazing stories and fun items. They hope to give historically significant objects a new lease on life while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way. The Pickers have seen a lot of rusty gold over the years and are always looking to discover something they’ve never seen before. They are ready to find extraordinary items and hear fascinating tales about them.
The American Pickers TV Show is looking for leads and would love to explore your hidden treasure. If you or someone you know has a unique item, story to tell, and is ready to sell...we would love to hear from you! Please note, the Pickers DO NOT pick stores, flea markets, malls, auction businesses, museums, or anything open to the public.Ifinterested, please sendusyourname, phonenumber, location, anddescriptionofthecollectionwith photos to:

UPDATE: BAIL DENIED FOR DEFENDANT in brutal stabbing at Western Sizzlin earlier this week. River Hammett will remain behind bars until his case is resolved, per Judge Abel's orders.

AN ANIAH'S LAW HEARING was held this morning to determine whether River Reed Hammett, 25, of Dawson, would remain in jail without bond until his trial. Hammett was charged with murder on Tuesday after he was arrested for the fatal stabbing of Terfils Saint Juste, 38, in the parking lot of Western Sizzlin in Boaz, where the defendant was employed. During the hearing, new details emerged about the "extremely gruesome" crime scene from the State's only witness, Inv. Doug Ware. Judge Chris Abel will make his decision within the next 48 hours. A full story about the hearing will be in the next edition of the Advertiser-Gleam.

WILDFIRE DANGER! With the worsening drought conditions and no significant accumulation of rain in the long-range forecast, the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) has now placed all counties across the state under a Fire Danger Advisory. This advisory is effective immediately and will remain in place until enough precipitation is received to improve drought impacts. Dead pines in the forests which were devastated by southern pine beetles this summer are adding to the increased wildfire potential, as well as challenges to containment efforts.
Abnormally warm and dry conditions in the last month have led to a steady rise in wildfire activity across Alabama. In the past 30 days, 246 wildfires have burned nearly 3,000 acres.
A Fire Danger Advisory indicates that fuels conducive to the start and spread of wildfire are more readily available during a drought. Although the AFC is not currently issuing a burn restriction, the agency strongly discourages any outdoor burning until conditions improve.
