⚫️Phone scam using Greenwood County Sheriff's Office phone number (864-942-8600)⚫️

Just a reminder about a phone scam that is targeting individuals, where scammers are pretending to be law enforcement officers. They claim that the victim is about to be arrested unless they make an immediate payment. To make the situation seem urgent and legitimate, the scammer will insist that payment be made using Mastercard "One" cards purchased from stores like Walmart.

How the scam works:

🔵You receive a call from someone claiming to be a deputy or law enforcement officer.
🔵The caller informs you that you owe money (for supposed fines or legal issues) and threatens arrest if you do not pay immediately.
🔵To avoid arrest, the caller demands that you purchase Mastercard "One" cards from a store like Walmart.
🔵Once you have the cards, the scammer will ask you to provide the card numbers and PINs. They only needed the last 8 numbers and the CVV in this recent scam.

Important Red Flags:

🔴Law enforcement will never ask for payment over the phone or demand gift cards.
🔴Never share personal or financial information, especially if you did not initiate the call.
🔴If you receive such a call, hang up immediately and report it to local authorities or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Awesome job Jeremy Lauten!!!

Congratulations to NSHS student Jeremy Lauten on his outstanding achievement at the National Beta Club Convention! Last year, Jeremy competed in the Social Studies academic competition at the state level and earned an opportunity to compete at the national convention. Jeremy secured a 5th place ranking at the national convention displaying his quick thinking and problem solving skills during the competition. Congratulations again to Jeremy on this tremendous achievement!

Well last night we ran into this guy, Sean Mims while going for dinner. As usually, he was as NICE as ever! We briefly mentioned the Eggs Up Grill incident and he laughed and said all he was trying to do is get some eggs and bacon lol. This man deserves an apology from the owner and manager, and maybe free eggs and bacon for a year! But not cooked by EUG. PS, nice hat
