The Student Media Advertising & Marketing Agency provides advertising, marketing and promotional support to all divisions within Student Media. Braxton Paine, our Business Manager, leads our team of Account Executives, Designers and Marketing specialists. Through The Agency, Student Media is able to offer affordable, effective and targeted ways to creatively promote any business or organization’s message to ECU Students, Faculty and area residents.

☠ What’s your major and what are your plans after graduation?
I’m graduating with a degree in accounting, as well as an entrepreneurship certification. I plan to work at Truist until I can open my own production company or restaurant.

☠ What roles have you held and what’s been your favorite part about working here?
I loved being able to talk to coworkers, guests and fans for a living as a DJ. My favorite moment was the downtime with the DJs.

☠ What’s your major and what are your plans after graduation?
I’m a communication major with a concentration in journalism. I plan to continue my journey as a sports journalist.

☠ What roles have you held at Pirate Media 1 and what’s been your favorite part about working here?
Over the past two and a half years at PM1, I’ve been a sports reporter, the arts and entertainment editor and the Editor-in-Chief. My favorite memories were the staff’s late night talks during productions, even though production wasn’t my favorite part, it made the night go by faster!

☠ What’s your major and what are your plans after graduation?
I’m graduating with a bachelor’s in communication. I plan on pursuing an internship with 101.9 KISS FM and then turning that internship into a full-time job.

☠ What roles have you held at Pirate Media 1 and what’s been your favorite part about working here?
I’ve been a disc jockey and my favorite part about working with Pirate Media 1 was the opportunity to be a radio personality and being able to connect with so many of my colleagues.

Pirate Media 1 attended the N.C. College Media Association Conference Feb. 24 at High Point University. The association aims to support and encourage college media operations on public and private university and college campuses.

Five Pirate Media 1 entries won awards at the conference:
✨Kim Kassner, second place for digital storytelling and third place for illustration/graphic for The East Carolinian
✨Nia Cruz, second place for a two-page spread for Rebel magazine
✨Ray Waddell, third place for photography/art for Rebel magazine
✨Victor Goins, honorable mention for nonfiction for Expressions magazine
✨Brian Jose Mendez, honorable mention for photography/art for Expressions magazine
