Sadly, we have made it to the finish line of @restaurantweeksc this year and I’m throwing in an ad-lib with an extra feature on a spot only about a mile from mi casa, @eatheyday sandwiches & cocktails
.
Two courses for $28 and pretty much includes their entire menu
.
Very much like @big_dave_eats and a WING NERD so those Gochujang wings were calling my name. Big juicy and plenty of flavor, the special was served with 4, but they said inside after it’s normally 8 or 10 so that’s a meal in of itself when the WAANNGGSS are this big
.
Next up, had to do something unique and what better way to do that than a Birria Dip. Never heard of it? Well, there’s a reason because it’s the only one in town. Served with hand-cut fries and if you’re still confused, just think of a French Dip but of a more Latino theme
.
While we’re on the topic of unique, to close out the special was a Banana Old Fashioned. I’ve never heard of banana liquor but did it ever taste true to form. Mixed with @evanwilliamsbourbon Black, I’m going to have to try that neat because I could still taste the traditional E-Dubs flavor behind all that banana
.
I had an amazing time this week hitting all the @restaurantweeksc spots I could. Here’s hoping next week is even more!

That’s right, the ending to that age-old saying is the name of this next Restaurant Week feature and this is the @kitchensyncgvl

They are more or less in the middle of commercial Laurens Road and open for lunch hours and again for dinner service
.
That reminds me, I made the fatal flaw of coming to try their @restaurantweeksc offerings for lunch only to learn it’s supper-only!
.
Where I could not try their specialties for 2025, a member of their incredible wait staff, Brandon, was able to help me “fake it til I make it,” the only time I will condone that expression, and assemble my own version using their staple menu items that are included in this community event
.
Beets by K, flash fried and served with spicy aioli. If everyone did beets like this, I may need to reconsider my age-old opposition to this veggie
.
The Shrimp Burger threw me off with the presentation of a patty but if you blindfolded yourself and dove right in, you’d have never known the difference
.
I’m not sure who Miss Betty is but her Chablis Cake was an experience! How you can pull off the whole bread dipping in oil thing and a sweet yellow sponge cake, I may never know but I’m sure glad they did!

Don’t wait!! If you’ve been to @sobysnewsouthcuisine in Greenville, you know they are a bit fancy and Restaurant Week lets you try a bit of their menu at an outstanding $38 for three courses!

You can start off with either She-Crab soup or a chopped salad which I walked on the lighter side given what was coming next
.
This 25 year @makersmark private select Old Fashioned is **not** part of the menu but very much worth the try
.
Lots of different entrees including a black truffle fried chicken dish, bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin and Verlasso Salmon and artichoke BUT I was feeling a little frisky because you know I can be harsh on shrimp and grits
.
Why you ask? Well, you all know I’m not a native southerner and normally shrimp and grits just has too much grits and not enough of the good stuff in the middle
.
Little in the middle but she got much back IYKYK
.
This was a perfect proportion with a nice pop of andouille sausage and the shrimp were HUGE! I’ll gladly take the win there
.
Never had a sweet tooth but a great dessert is hard to pass up. The Chocolate Chess Pie was just the right size and the dark chocolate shavings with the roasted white chocolate worked well together and were nicely balanced by the crust
.

If you’re doing Dry January (they do have a few mocktail options behind the bar) or just roll with the ole agua and satisfy your sweet tooth with a Chimi Cheesecake and let me tell you, the decadence is next level

Let’s talk this Fuego San Diego. The heat worked really well for me and those Takis added an extra level of crunchy texture that really stepped up the dish

Always gotta palate cleanse with @liquiddeath I’m still trying to get on their radar. Pretty, please? With some ramen on top?

Until then, I heard @big_dave_eats say recently, he wasn’t too confident in his chopstick abilities. I can’t imagine a situation where that legend isn’t confident at anything, but maybe I can market my own skills on the STIX
.
The palate cleanse is necessary when you switch over to burger ans sandwich mode. The bowl was pretty big as you can tell so I kept it simple with THE ANIMAL smashburger, a West Coast Cult Classic with all the trimmings and dripping in that government cheese. But for real, what’s werewolf sausage? 👀🐺

No need to bring your silver bullets but just a positive attitude so you can remember that these are in fact the good ole days

They recommend 1/2 lb per person but when you have the idea of a platter being 3 proteins, you may want to take my strategy and order by the quarter

Add on as many sides as you want and yours truly is a HUGE FAN of cornbread. Their green chile corn pudding gave the brisket a run for it’s money on my plate. Prime USDA sliced, as @big_dave_eats says, it’s tender as a fair maiden’s heart

I definitely could’ve used some more heat in the sauce but I recognize not everyone is like me and wants that burn. Definitely surprised myself with my adeptness with the spoon 🤣 and all this plus a beer came in under $40 before tip!

And I do! Saturday was National Bouillabaisse Day and after a quick google search to see how I could take advantage of this, I found an option at local French bistro @passerellebistro right by Reedy Falls
.
They do serve it all the time on their menu so fear not, you didn’t miss their combo of Red Snapper, Shrimp, and Mussels served over Saffron Broth
.
It came in at a very reasonable $27 and I even was able to add a cup of the Soup Du Jour to my tab to be all the more extra
.
So, stop by and ask the big guy in red for a plate from the sea fit for King Triton himself
