INDIANOLA, Miss.—Three people were shot and killed at a residence on Janet Davis Drive in Indianola Saturday afternoon.

Two of the victims were found outside of the house. It was unclear where the third victim was found. Police told the Enterprise-Tocsin that the victims were two females and one male, all elderly.

Delta Radio was able to determine independently that two of the victims were a husband and wife.

A suspect was reportedly found in a car near the house.
Names were not released by the coroner Saturday evening, however two of those killed were the grandparents of the suspect.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for most of the Delta, starting at 6pm Sunday and continuing until 6am Tuesday morning.  Significant snow accumulation is expected as well as 1/10 inch of ice. Take all necessary precautions, including protecting plants and pets.

New Year’s Day Garbage & Trash Routes

GREENVILLE, Miss. (December 26, 2023) Today, Mayor Errick D. Simmons announces the garbage and trash pick-up schedule for the New Year’s Day Holiday. The City of Greenville will be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024 in observance of New Year’s Day.

As a result, the garbage and trash pick-up route during the week of Christmas Day and New Year’s Ever will proceed as follows:

• Monday’s garbage and trash route will be picked up on Tuesday, January 2nd.

• Tuesday’s garbage and trash route will be picked up on Wednesday, January 3rd.

• Wednesday’s garbage and trash route will be picked up on Thursday, January 4th.

• Thursday’s and Friday’s garbage and trash route will be picked up on Friday, January 5th.

These changes were made to provide our services in a timely and effective manner.

“We want our residents to know that our sanitation department is working tirelessly given the abbreviated schedule to get all garbage cans dumped and trash picked up, and we thank all citizens for being patient with us during this time.”
