Shooting

We are aware of a fatal incident at a residence in the Trailstone neighborhood of Caddo Mills earlier this morning. Caddo Mills Police Officers and Hunt County Sheriff's C.I.D. Investigators have been at the scene all morning. We are waiting for more information to be released by the Caddo Mills Police Department.

The Caddo Mills Independent School District is providing grief counselors at all campuses.

As the snow transitions unto rain, be cautious while driving. Currently the temperature has reached 32° and the heavily used roads and highways are slushy. As the afternoon progresses the temperature is expected to drop, which means the slush will freeze.

TxDot is out on the main highways with sand trucks and plows.

Texas DPS Troopers release more details in the crash that claimed the life of Off Duty Dallas Police Officer Gabriel " Rush Hour " Bixby early Tuesday evening.
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed Gabriel Bixby was driving his motorcycle on State Highway 276 near FM 1565, in the Union Valley area of Hunt County shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when a Honda Accord that was waiting to turn from the highway failed to yield and pulled in front of Bixby's motorcycle.

Gabriel Bixby was pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver of the Accord, Frank James, 85, of Royse City, was transported by AMR Hunt County to Hunt Regional Hospital-Greenville, officials said.

Officer Gabriel Bixby is survived by his wife and two children, family, partners with the Dallas Police Department, and was an avid motorcyclists, and President of the local chapter Gunslingers MC First Sons, a national motorcycle club made of of law enforcement officers.

Due to the forecasted winter weather, which may bring icy conditions and freezing rain to our area, Commerce ISD will be closed on Thursday, January 9th, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 Friday, January 10th.

The safety of our students, staff, and families is always our 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲. This decision was made with careful consideration of road conditions, bus route safety, and the well-being of everyone traveling to and from our campuses.

All school activities, including after-school programs and sports events, are canceled for these days.
