Road conditions worsen as temps drop
Snow, wind expected through Tuesday

As of 2:20 p.m., Summit Road in West Salem Township, between Vernon Road (state Route 358) and Woods Road remains closed, according to a statement issued by PennDOT.
In addition to Summit Road, PennDOT has reduced speed on I-79 from I-80 to Erie, with speeds of 45 MPH.
Additionally, PennDOT announced a portion of I-79 northbound in Crawford County is closed due to a crash involving a tractor trailer, near Exit 141 (state Route 285, Geneva/Cochranton). At this time, traffic is being detoured using the exit ramp, and the closure will remain in effect until the scene has been cleared.
And the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Mercer County until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, as well as a wind advisory through 1 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Forecasters are calling for winds out of the west at about 26 MPH, with gusts up to 45 MPH possible, as well as snow accumulations 1 to 2 inches Monday during the day; an additional 1 to 2 inches overnight; plus snow continuing Tuesday and Wednesday, with a potential of a few more inches.
In Crawford County, a lake effect snow warning has been posted until 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, with 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation expected during the day Monday; a potential of 3 to 7 inches of new snow Monday night; 1 to 3 inches of new snow Tuesday; and an additional potential of 1 to 3 inches Tuesday night; and additional snow on Wednesday could add another couple inches.
