These ceiling medallions came down from around the first floor main room chandelier. Awesome piece, but we wanted to reinforce the second floor. Hvac and electric will go in soon, and the ceiling that goes up will be even more beautiful than the original. We’ll use this room to house small events and conferences at fourth and penn.

In 1936 Roosevelt was a few years into the New Deal that was meant to provide relief, recovery, and reform after the Great Depression.
This isn’t a history lesson though, just framing this article we found from the 1930s at Fourth and Penn. The author writes, “As a people we (Americans) were firm, courageous, unconquerable. And now what are we? We want things done for us. We flinch or cave in the face of opposition. We lack forthrightness and nerve to oppose things that are wrong.” It’s been over 80 years since this was penned, but I think I heard the same thing on the news last week about millennials and every generation that’s followed. It’s interesting to see the decades and generations turn over while themes remains consistent. If you find that interesting, give us a follow because next week we’ll post an opinion article on prohibition that could literally be copied and pasted in 2019 with the arguments around the legalization of ma*****na.

We know what it’s like to work from home without a dedicated space. It’s not as easy as everyone thinks. Fourth and Penn is helping ppl in Greensburg find flexible, modern office space. Membership options include flex-desks, private desks, and private offices. Pictured are a few of the office spaces available - we have space to hold teams from 1 to 4 people. Conference rooms, event space, and parking available as well. The space will be fantastic for small businesses, entrepreneurs, freelancers, lawyers, marketers, and anyone else growing their business. I expect that the private offices will be reserved before the building officially opens, so please reach out if you’re interested in a private office space 🚪. Are you dumb, or do you know how to avoid runs?
Some friends from 1936 left this newspaper for us to find in the walls at Fourth and Penn. From the Pittsburgh Post Gazette dating Friday, May 15, 1936. Clearly, Mad Men era came later. They’ve also left a catholic newspaper and greensburg city newspaper, so we’ll post those over the next few months. We’re working on preserving them, and maybe tossing some pages with a paper from 2019 in the wall for the next remodel in the year 2150.

This house is beautiful, but after years of neglect there’s some hard work to bring it back to life. Some needs to go.....
