This September we brought you a whole lot of fashion and a whole lot of flair. From this year’s fashion in review with the fashion icons of Accessories with a FLAIR!... and Hair to professional color analysis at Charley & CO. Market, Greeley’s fashion community has come together to give us their best. We also feature The Arc of Northeast Colorado’s rebrand and upcoming fashion show that goes beyond stereotypes, as well as a sneak peak into Greeley’s Spooky Style.

Food for Thought! Throwback to August 2023 when J&T shared with us their top tips for keeping our pets happy and healthy 🐱🐶

“We want people to get as much time with their pets as possible,” Teri says. “As people have been so generous to support us and our store, we want to continue to provide the best possible service to the Greeley community with the experience we’ve gathered over the years.”

J&T Feeds’ Tips on maintain the dest diet for your pets:

1. Raw/Meat-Heavy: J&T Feeds recommends raw feeding or meat-heavy diets. Raw is the cleanest as far as not losing nutrients in the baking process and can address many health and allergy issues. The meat-heavy kibble provides balanced nutrition with ease of the feeding schedule. 
2. Variety of Protein: The variety of protein choices is key. If your dog has sensitivities to a food, try another protein. Chicken is typically a culprit when it comes to skin sensitivities and gut health. 
3. Read Nutrition Labels: Read any nutrition labels on your pet food, and see what ingredients you can/can’t identify. The more you know, and the more you get to know your animals’ specific dietary needs, the better you can take care of them for a happy, healthy lifestyle.
4: Ingredients to Avoid: Avoid GMO grains such as corn, wheat and soy. Anything created with byproducts prevents your pet from getting the highest quality protein.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nationally accredited program housed under Life Stories Child and Family Advocacy. The CASA program recruits, trains and supports volunteers from the area to be an advocate for children and to give them a voice in Dependency and Neglect court cases.

For most Greeley residents, summertime kicks off the transition outdoors to pools, picnics and other warm-weather activities. For figure skaters, however, the winter lasts year-round. ⛸️☀️❄️

The Greeley Ice Haus offers a variety of programs for figure skaters of all ages and abilites. One young skater, Bryleigh Hice, started in the Ice Haus’ Learn to Skate Program where she is trained by Sarah Bott, a USFSA-certified coach, who specializes in freeskate, jumps, artistry, off-ice and power.

Throwback to August 2023 when Angela Slaughter, local elementary music teacher, shared with us her insights on how music helps to develop young minds 🎶

“Even just listening to music engages the brain,” Slaughter says. “Playing an instrument or singing affects visual, auditory and motor areas in the brain all at the same time.”

Angela also shared with us tips for introducing your kids to music. They were just too good, we had to share them with you one more time!

1. “Sing with your kids, no matter what you feel about how you sound, and have them sing back. That mimicking is such a huge piece of developing that inner ear.”
2. “Turning on the music and dancing with your kids is so good for their body and for that feel of tempo.”
3. “Our libraries provide story time with singing and moving—I think that’s a sweet place to start for kids. There are so many opportunities to go to concerts—whether that’s the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, Greeley Chorale or Greeley Children’s Chorale.”
4. “Be aware of what’s happening in their music programs and what those elementary school music teachers are providing. They’re doing ukulele clubs and recorder clubs and having different opportunities for their students to get more involved.”

Greeley Lifestyle’s August Kids & Pets Issue took home the GOLD! 🥇

Our August Kids & Pets issue was recently awarded “Magazine of the Month” by City Lifestyle Magazine. For those of you who don’t know, Greeley Lifestyle is a part of the greater City Lifestyle network – a national network of nearly 300 local magazines all across the country. This month, the City Lifestyle head office applauded Greeley Lifestyle’s August issue, as it shared with the publisher’s and editors from across the U.S. how our team captured the Kids & Pets issue perfectly.

This is the first time in Greeley Lifestyle’s history that we’ve been awarded this recognition! We are eternally grateful for our production team who puts their heart into crafting a beautiful publication each month with the leadership of Tara Rasmuson and Mathew Klickstein. And thank you to the Greeley community and our business partners – our pages would not be nearly as colorful and engaging without your stories! Flashback to the past & Greeley’s story of grit, building our town from the group up 🌳

Two years ago in August 2022, a few local children and Shannon McTighe Photography blew us away with these incredible photos to accompany our story on the history of our town. We featured locals stories’ of their family’s history of immigration and how they found their way to Greeley – stories that are being kept alive through the Greeley History Musuem.

“A hotel just isn’t quite the experience you get staying out in nature,”  says Mary Bengford, local Colorado insurance agent and realtor ⛰️🏕️

Throwback to August 2023 when Mary and Jared Bengford shared with us their exploration onto the camping scene post-pandemic. Mary shared with us her experience buying a camper and learning the ropes. She also provided us some tips on camping with kids & pets.

One clever idea the Bengfords had was to measure packing totes and put them in all of the empty spaces in the RV. If it doesn’t fit in the tote, it doesn’t go. This is a helpful tool for kids who tend to overpack with toys. This also makes it really easy to see everything they pack at once, allowing them to easily make sure they have what they need. It also helps with loading everything into the RV.

Have you been to the LINC yet? As you round out summer vacation with your kids, it is one place you won’t want to miss 🤸‍♂️📚☀️

The state of the art LINC Library Innovation Center located in downtown Greeley, gives kids a non-traditional library experience with museum-like exhibits, quirky furniture and thematic elements that teleport visitors into other worlds. Some say that this library “revolutionizes libraries as we know them” and people travel from all parts of the state to visit it.

Throwback to August 2023 when we featured a story on this grand addition as it made its way into the Greeley community. This library features art and architectural designs from local artists like Wes Bruce and amazing, interactive exhibits to engage kids. If you haven’t yet been, we couldn’t recommend it enough!
