In recognition of Earth Day, Pacific Steel & Recycling is inviting all local Elementary teachers, students, and classrooms to participate in our “iCan Make A Difference” aluminum can recycling challenge.

Whichever classroom recycles the most aluminum cans from April 1st through April 30th will be rewarded with a catered pizza party and an opportunity to tour our facility and learn more about recycling!

Citing a change in the global recycling market, seven cities in southern Salt Lake County are telling residents that office paper, newspaper, cereal boxes and other items that were previously recyclable items no longer belong in a recycling bin.

Recycling Facts:

Every ton of recycled steel saves 2,500 pounds of iron ore, 1,000 of coal, and 40 pounds of limestone.
Americans throw out enough iron and steel to continuously supply all the auto makers in the entire
nation.
A steel mill using recycled scrap reduces water pollution, air pollution, and mining waste by about 70
percent.
Tin is another metal that has great value. Did you know that tin, when recycled, is so pure it can be used
as Stannous Fluoride.
Americans use 100 million tin and steel cans each day.
