Throwback Thursday! With the 25th Jammies right around the corner, GRTV rediscovered footage from one of the earlier performances. This comes from the 3rd annual Jammies, held in 2002 at the UICA, back when it was on Sheldon! The Jammies look a bit different now, but the message remains the same, to uplift and celebrate local music!
This was able to be archived with GRTV's brand new archiving suite, which is open for public use. This features a performance from Ken Bierschbach, but there are seven other performances available to watch on GRTV's YouTube channel at GRTVaccess.

GRTV is now offering a new service that allows community members and organizations to digitize their outdated home media through the launch of its Media Preservation Suite.
The Media Preservation Suite is geared toward community members and organizations interested in transferring their outmoded media – such as VHS tapes, cassette tapes, CDs, DVDs and 8-millimeter film – into digital formats.
You can read more about this new service on our website at https://grcmc.org/news!

Throwback Thursday!
It's crazy to see just how far we've come since November 23rd, 2004! Back then we were holding a capital campaign to revitalize Wealthy Theatre. Since then, just alone this year, we have held over 600 different events at the theatre!
This just comes to show that your donations make a lasting impact here at The Grand Rapids Community Media Center. As the year comes to an end consider making a year-end contribution to the GRCMC today! These donations could also be used as tax deductions.
We're currently working towards archiving important documents and videos, just like this one, but that takes space to store, and we are in desperate need of addition archiving space. Your year-end contribution will help us get the storage we desperately need! You can make a secure donation now online at grcmc.org/donate. Thank you for your continued support of The Grand Rapids Community Media Center!

Throwback Thursday!
On May 12th, 1982, GRTV was sent a piece of mail addressing the use of "Power To The People" as their station's identification song. This was brought to the attention of Yoko Ono and the John Lennon Estate, who approved the use of the song!
Through the month of December we're asking you to support the Grand Rapids Community Media Center. We are actively trying to do important archiving work, to preserve history and showcase the stories of Grand Rapids, but this work takes space. To continue this work, we need additional server space. You can donate securely online at grcmc.org/donate or by stopping into the GRCMC in-person during our business hours! Thank you for supporting community media and our efforts to archive and protect these historical documents and videos.

As the year is coming to an end, you can still give to support the Grand Rapids Community Media Center. We are actively trying to do important archiving work, to preserve history and showcase the stories of Grand Rapids, but this work takes space. To continue this work, we need server space.
With GRTV's Santa Show right around the corner, happening on Saturday December 7th, pictured is an old press release for the 2002 Santa Show. The show used to be a call in show that would air live, now we gather at Wealthy Theatre and children can see Santa in person.
You can donate now to support this campaign today at grcmc.org/donate! Thank you for supporting community media and our efforts to capture and store history!

Create something with your CMC

Grand Rapids Community Media Center is Building Community Through Media. We are WYCE 88.1fm, GRTV, The Rapidian, Wealthy Theatre, as well as our Education Department and Technical and Nonprofit Services. At GRCMC, we are facilitating connections throughout our community by providing media platforms and services that empower our neighbors to tell their stories and explore the richness of culture that Grand Rapids has to offer.
