Love and light. DJ Della Soul receives inquiries and requests for price quotes often. I ask several questions before giving a quote. There are so many factors that are involved in creating a quote including location of event, event type, will I be an emcee, what is my travel time to the venue, do I need to bring sound (speakers), number of hours services are requested, will I need to DJ in multiple places in a venue (i.e., a wedding ceremony and reception), do I play the type of music genres that you enjoy, is the event family friendly (that means I need to make sure I have clean versions of popular music as I DO NOT USE A STREAMING SERVICE), etc.
Also, did you know that DJs do pre-work? Creating playlists, getting an understanding of the crowd, visiting venues prior to events to figure out logistics, sound checks, setting up before the event, etc.
There is not a one size fits all price. Additionally, I am a vinyl DJ who creates a beautiful musical experience and aesthetic. There is also so much “day of” work to make sure that your guests are enjoying themselves…sometimes DJs have to pivot QUICKLY and without drawing attention to themselves if a song is played and the audience isn’t feeling it. We are constantly checking sound and watching the crowd in order to create a beautiful experience for your crowd.
I would love to be your DJ, however, respecting and having a better understanding of the craft will allow me to bring my “A-game” to your event.
HELPFUL SIDE NOTE: why do DJs wear their headphones, one on ear and the other off? People think it is to look cool. The truth is while you are enjoying a song, we have the next track cued up and are listening to it in the ear with the headphone while still listening to the current song in order to seamlessly blend the tracks.
Yeah, we are superheroes who bring the vibes to your events!
Y’all be easy!
