So last Sunday in, Grand Marais, MI, we left one of local eateries and we found this note under our windshield wiper. Not many people know what a Gold Star Family is, but we thank you. It an exclusive club for families that lose a spouse, sibling, or child while in a combat action (KIA). Whoever placed this note on our windshield, thank you.

Friends of Seney National Wildlife Refuge invites you to the second annual Loonapalooza on August 9, 2024 at the Erickson Center for the Arts. This vibrant event will bring together individuals from all over the region for a day filled with learning, music, food, art and festivities. Last year, Friends hosted the first Loonapalooza, which was a celebration to share the refuge story with everyone in our community and to raise funds to support the work of the refuge. It was a resounding success, with over 200 community members attending. In addition to another evening celebration with music, food, art auction and a fun-filled program for Friends members and their guests, Loonapalooza 2024 will include “The Loonapalooza Lectures” featuring nationally recognized experts on loons and migration.
