Rest In Power Soul Man...

Stax Records is saddened to hear that Sam Moore, of the legendary duo Sam & Dave, passed away at age 89. 🤍 Together with Dave Prater, Mr. Moore brought early success to a fledgling Stax label with hits like “Soul Man,” “Hold On I’m Comin,’” “You Don’t Know Like I Know,” and more. They have since been recognized as one of the greatest live acts of their time, and their crossover success was instrumental in introducing soul music to white audiences.

What a perfect day. Aside from starting off a little cold today was perfect. Had the Sound System on Main Street outside Selecting the soundtrack for Grand Junctions Black Friday Record Store Day. I spun vinyl from 10-3, than switched to digital from 3-4. was there for most of the day, and I had a bomb breakfast sandwich. Shauna hung out with me spinning records so I could shop. Her sets are top notch. My son brought me over some sushi from in that after noon. I got tones of appreciation from passers by. Got to see people of all ages dance to the sounds of Ska, Rock Steady, Soul & Reggae. Got asked by several passers by for a card. Witnessed many exit the record shop with bags of records and smiles on their faces. Yes, today was a good day…

One of my favorite Scooter Rally Weekends. Filled with live music, DJ all-nighters, beautiful scooters, and great people. I've had the privilege of spinning records at the event a few times. I haven't been confirmed for this year, but the room is booked and I'll be there with or with out records...
