Our Story
KREX 5 is the CBS affiliate television station for the Western Slope, and Fox 4 is the Fox affiliate. We are owned and operated by Nexstar Broadcasting Group.
In the morning, the station airs CBS's morning news and information program, with spots for local news and weather; in the afternoon, it airs CBS's soap operas; in the early evening, it shows CBS's national news broadcast and local newscasts. After prime time, it airs its own local newscasts, followed by CBS's late-night programming. KREX also airs local sports broadcasts. KREX's channel is multiplexed, with two sub channels. Channel 5.1 airs KREX and CBS programs, and 5.2 shows a simulcast of sister station KGJT MyNetworkTV, featuring repeat episodes of other networks highly rated television shows as a syndication programming service for primetime only.
We are a dedicated station that has been committed to the local community since May 22 1954. We were the first to broadcast television in this market, the first to broadcast in color, and we are still here serving you.
