MISSING AND ENDANGERED SENIOR CITIZEN

Please help us locate John Fadel, age 75, 5’6” tall, 155 pounds with gray hair. Mr. Fadel left the Orchard Valley Living Center in Palisade last night around 7:30pm wearing a gray sweater and dark colored pants. An extensive search was made into the night, but he has not been located yet. Mr. Fadel uses a walker and has dementia. Call non-emergency dispatch at 970-242-6707 with any information.

*We are asking residents of Palisade to please check your property to see if Mr. Fadel has wandered there.*

Lane filtering allows motorcyclists to safely navigate through stopped vehicles in traffic or at stop lights. Motorcycles must travel at 15 mph or less and only pass when the lane is wide enough.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions in effect August 2, 2024, for all private land in Mesa County and land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, excluding land in the Grand Mesa and Uncompahgre National Forest.

The following activities are prohibited:
️‍🧨Personal use of fireworks
🔥 Agricultural burning without a Sheriff’s issued burn permit
🔥Campfires outside of designated fire pits or fire rings
️‍🚬 Smoking outside near combustible materials.
️‍🔥Use of explosive targets
🔥Operating or using any internal or external combustion engine without a functioning spark-arresting device
🔥Welding or operating Acetylene or other torches with an open flame except in cleared areas of at least 10 feet in diameter, you MUST have a chemical pressurized fire extinguisher.

Fire along I-70 at MM 54

UPDATE 5:00 pm:
Both lanes of Eastbound I-70 at Mile Marker 54 in DeBeque Canyon are now open.
ALERT! The right lane of I-70 Eastbound at Mile Marker 54 is temporarily closed due to a fire. The left lane will remain open for slow-moving traffic. Please avoid the area or use caution if traveling through the area and slow down as you approach.

Strawberry Days Festival Parking Information

NO parking on Devereux Road or the shoulder of Devereux Road!

Two Rivers Park will be CLOSED and SECURED for general park access for festival safety and security beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 through Monday, June 24. There will be access around the park on the river path.

Vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.

With total of 36 attendees — a new record for us! — last Saturday's tour of Happy Hive Farmstead in Grand Junction was a rousing success! As the first tour in our 2024 "Family to Farm" series of farm tours around the Western Slope, this event offered a chance for Western Colorado residents to learn more about the unique regenerative agriculture practices of Happy Hive — or just enjoy the chicks and bunnies at Happy Hive's petting zoo! We want to send a big thank you to member Tomek Barc and his wife Timmie for welcoming us to Happy Hive Farm. The passion they put into the field and operation really shows!

And don't worry if you missed the first tour as we have six more still to come! Stay tuned for announcements and sign-ups as "Family to Farm" continues.

A downturn in snow rates over southern areas tonight becomes heavy snowfall by tomorrow afternoon. Strong winds will impact the north on Thursday and travel will likely be compromised at times.
