Valentine’s Day means love is in the air and, in Grand County, will also mean snow and cold weather. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Grand County below 9,000 feet in elevation, including the cities of Kremmling, Fraser, Granby, Grand Lake and Hot Sulphur Springs. The advisory is set to take effect at 5 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, and remain in place until Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m.

Winter Park Resort operates on Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest land. Currently, the 124 ski resorts that operate on U.S. Forest Service land have to pay a permit fee that goes directly to the U.S. Treasury.

However, there is no guarantee that these funds go back to the national forests bearing the brunt of the recreational activity, which is what the SHRED Act aims to change.
