Abraham Hamadeh won the Republican nomination for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, defeating Blake Masters. Both candidates were endorsed by former President Trump. Hamadeh is now positioned to succeed retiring Rep. Debbie Lesko.

Gloria Johnson, a Tennessee state representative, has secured the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. She will face off against Republican incumbent Senator Marsha Blackburn in the upcoming November election. Johnson is most known as a member of the "Tennessee Three," where she and two fellow members were expelled for advocating against gun violence.

STATEMENT:
I have heard that some readers are curious how this page will remain factual in our political climate. I feel that thus far I have been fair to both sides of the aisle, especially shown in my characterization of senate candidate Kari Lake.

The most talked of news story this week about former President Trump has been surrounding comments he made that many feel were racist, and I felt that would not be appropriate to share as it only stands to show him in a negative light, which I don't find appropriate for a news page.

I will continue to provide non-partisan news stories on this page, and I welcome any and all productive comments to be made so Grafton can have a reliable source of information.

The first Arizona House race I want to mention is AZ-2 (R+6). Currently, Eli Crane holds that seat. He is most famous for using the term "colored people" during a floor debate. He will be running against former President of the Navajo Nation Jonathan Nez. Under Nez, the Navajo's COVID-19 vaccination rate was higher than in most other parts of Arizona.
