Heads Up!!! Egypt Shores Parade is now scheduled for Saturday July 6th!!!

After keeping an eye on the weather forecast and with the predicted thunderstorm. The decision has been made to postpone the parade till Saturday July 6th. Same time, start 10:00 am with the line up at 9:00am and judging at 9:30.

As of now the kids fun zone, concert and fireworks are still on for tomorrow night (July 4th).

A new eligibility list is being established in order to hire full-time Firefighter/EMTs. All full-time hires will be chosen from this eligibility list.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. June 21st, 2024.

Full Time Police Officer (State Certified Police Officers Only)
The Village of Goreville, Illinois is currently seeking applications from exceptional individuals for the position of full-time Police Officer. Competitive starting pay with potential for advancement after 180 days.

The applicant will perform duties to include but not limited to:

Enforcing traffic, criminal laws and local ordinances
Provide emergency response as needed
Write reports
Handle traffic crashes
Attend court as needed
Handle any and all other duties assigned

Minimum qualifications include:

21 years of age
U.S. Citizen
High school graduate (or equivalent)
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
Valid FOID card
Excellent moral character
Good mental and physical condition
No felony or domestic violence convictions
Willingness to work all shifts
Willingness to work some weekends and some holidays (mandatory to work Fourth of July)
MUST BE a graduate of one of either the full-time or part-time sworn officer Illinois training programs and be State of Illinois certified, or have the appropriate training and certification from another state that is compatible with Illinois training requirements
Currently employed in law enforcement or separated/retired in good standing from a law enforcement agency
All qualified applications will be required to:

Pass an oral interview
Pass a thorough background investigation
Pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and possibly a psychological evaluation after acceptance of appointment
Providing an application does not automatically guarantee you will be hired. We reserve the right to hire based on our hiring policies/procedures and the successful completion of our detailed pre-employment background investigation and approval by the Village of Goreville Board.

GOREVILLE COACH TODD TRIPP TO BE INDUCTED INTO IBCA HALL OF FAME

Goreville High School Boys Basketball Coach Todd Tripp has been notified that he will be officially inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame! Coach Tripp has been the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Goreville High School since 2004 where he followed fellow Hall-of-Famer the late Jerry Qualls. During his time at Goreville, Tripp has won 10 conference championships, 8 regular season tournament championships, 8 IHSA Regional championships, 2 IHSA Sectional and Supersectional Titles, and made the Final 4 at state twice. He currently has a record of 404-180 at Goreville and 425-269 overall counting his years at Elverado High School where he began his career. Congratulations Coach Tripp!!!

GOREVILLE SCHOOLS NAMES KLOPE NEW HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL FOR 2024

The Goreville CUSD #1 Board of Education on November 27, 2023 at their regularly scheduled meeting, voted unanimously to extend a contract to Brandilyn Klope to become the new Goreville Jr. High and High School Principal (Grades 6-12), following current Principal Jeri Miller who will be retiring in June after 33 years of service at Goreville Schools. Mrs. Klope has been a teacher for Goreville Elementary School since 2014. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2013 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is currently finishing her Masters in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Mrs. Klope helped create and implement the current Goreville positive behavior program named PAWS (Practice Safety, Act Responsibly, Work Together, and Show Respect), is a member of the Learning Partnership Team, CATCH Committee (Southern Seven Health Department), District Interview Committee, and various School Improvement Teams. Mrs. Klope is very active in her church activities as she teaches the College and Career Age Sunday School Class and has served as a Counselor for their KIDZ Camps for a number of years. Mrs. Klope will assume her new duties at Goreville July 1.

Hey Everyone! My name is Bethany Dunn. I am the owner of a new restaurant coming soon to our little town of Goreville called the Goreville Grill! I am super excited to start this journey in my life. We are located in the back of the H&H gas station. We are hoping to be open sometime in the first part of November. Stay tuned for more details and updates!

All are welcome to the Freedom Fest in Goreville today. Parade starts at 10am, with other functions going on at the City Park. Fireworks at dusk! Approximately 9pm.
We hope to be drawing.for the kayaks today.
