Spectrum Literary Journal SPECTRUM is an annual journal of literature & art published by UC Santa Barbara's College of Creativ Submissions will close Dec. 31. Guidelines:

Founded in 1957, Spectrum is the longest-running literary magazine in the UC system. We frequently receive and accept submissions from several other distinguished universities outside of the UC system, such as Sarah Lawrence College and Cornell University. Over the years, Spectrum has published work by luminaries like Barry Spacks, Alex Ortolani, Jervey Tervalon, Teddy Macker, Louisa Hall, William

Carlos Williams, Hugh Kenner, Sam Hamill, Jean Cocteau, Lydia Bird, and Raymond Carver. Spectrum Literary Magazine is currently accepting submissions for the theme perseverance. We accept art, poetry, fiction, non-fiction and hybrid works from everyone, regardless of age or school affiliation. Art can be either black and white or in color. Any form of poetry and any genre of fiction is allowed; non-fiction works can range from interviews, personal essays, and creative or scholarly essays. We accept submissions here: spectrum.ccs.ucsb.edu/submission-guidelines
2. Poetry: include poems in a single document. We will consider up to five poems.
3. Fiction & non-fiction: under twelve pages strongly recommended.
4. Hybrid: up to three shorter pieces or one longer piece. Please try to stay below twelve pages of text and/or images.
5. Please inform us of simultaneous submissions, and immediately notify us of withdrawal if your piece is accepted elsewhere.

We accept art, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction works from everyone, regardless of age or school affiliation. Art can be either black and white or in color. Any form of poetry and any genre of fiction is allowed; non-fiction works can range from interviews, personal essays, and creative or scholarly essays. We do not follow themes and no subject will be censored. Guidelines: 1. We accept submissions through Submittable here. 2. Poetry: include poems in separate documents. We will consider up to five poems. 3. Fiction & non-fiction: no longer than 20 pages, double-spaced, no more than one manuscript at a time. 4. Please inform us of simultaneous submissions, and immediately notify us of withdrawal if your piece is accepted elsewhere. 5. Names will be removed from each entry before review, so please leave the submission nameless.
