In case you missed it, this past Saturday was the 24th annual Lobster Trap Tree Lighting on Harbor Loop. A special shout out to Cape Ann Art Haven for producing the stunning, hand-painted buoys with the talented kids of Gloucester. 🎄🎁

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Rockport Music for Writing Our Musical History, an initiative that celebrates local heritage through the voices of our youth. This project brought together high school students from Rockport, Gloucester, Manchester-Essex, and Beverly to create original songs inspired by meaningful places in their hometowns - Beverly (The Cabot), Manchester-Essex (Tuck's Point), Gloucester (The Fisherman's Wives Statue), and Rockport (Bearskin Neck).

Under the expert guidance of teaching artist Alexandra Grace, students composed lyrics, melodies, and harmonies, crafting unique musical narratives that reframed history as a living, evolving story. The songs culminated in live performances at the Shalin Liu Performance Center and the students’ chosen inspiration sites.

This project was made possible in part through the support of the Essex County Community Foundation and the Creative County Initiative.

Our producer, Heather Atwood, recently attended the opening of Design & Document: The Folly Cove Designers at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. The exhibition featured an illustrated catalog, including her essays on this Cape Ann-based 20th-century printmaking group. Stay tuned for an upcoming episode of The Color of Light, where we’ll spotlight these remarkable artists.
