Carole Lee McIntyre passed away at her home in Globe, Arizona, on November 20, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on September 6, 1941, in Mason town, Pennsylvania, to parents, James and Anna Benford. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Arthur McIntyre,Sr. And two granddaughters, Cicely and Sheridan.

Carole is survived by her children, Melinda McIntyre of Meadville, Pennsylvania; Arthur (Buddy) McIntyre, Jr. of Redrock, Arizona; Michelle (John) Powell of Globe, Arizona; and Eric McIntyre of Globe, Arizona. She is also survived by her treasured six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Brother, Jimmy Ben, Ford of Masontown, Pennsylvania, and sister-in-law, Elaine (Larry) Burns of Globe, Arizona; and many other family members and friends.

Carole and Art moved to their family to Globe Arizona in 1976. She found her passion for teaching at Tuffy Tiger Daycare Center, where she worked for 26 years, retiring as the Director of the center. It was a joy for her to see her “Tuffy Kids,” as she called them, in local paper as graduates of high school. Carole was known for her crafting and ceramics, always volunteering for crafts at her church and vacation Bible School. She and Art could always be found at the local craft fairs held in the community.

She was a caring and supportive mom through all her children’s adventures, being a Den Leader for Cub Scouts, a team mom for Tee Ball, and a GHS band booster member, always putting her family’s needs first. Carole will be truly missed by all who knew her and experienced her love. The family would like to thank her caretakers and new friends, Jessica and Sofia, for the wonderful compassion and care they gave their mother in the last part of her life, and her hospice friends, Jill and Kylie. What a blessing all these ladies are.

“My mind still talks to you and my heart still looks for you, but my soul knows you are at peace.”

A memorial service is scheduled for December 7, 2024 at 12 PM at Central Heights Baptist Church, located at 5468 S Apache, Globe, AZ 85501.

1:15 P.M. UPDATE: All lanes are now open.

🚧🚧🚧

*CLOSURE*

US 60 will be CLOSED in both directions between Superior and Miami (mileposts 227-243) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, due to an unforeseen need for additional blasting operations related to the US 60, Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Replacement Project.

DETOUR: Eastbound US 60 drivers will use southbound State Route 177 through Winkleman to northbound SR 77. Westbound US 60 drivers will use southbound SR 77 through Winkleman to northbound SR 177. Due to the roughly 75-mile length of this detour, drivers may want to consider planning travel before 10 a.m. and after 1 p.m. The detour is estimated to add an additional hour for trips between Superior and Miami.

The blasting is part of a $44.7 million project to replace the Queen Creek and nearby Waterfall Canyon bridges. Please visit azdot.gov/US60QueenCreekBridgeProject for more information and to sign up for email alerts.

Update on the Nugget Fire: Statis now “inactive” & “forward progress stopped” 🙌🙌🙌

//We are watching these two smaller fires near Globe-Miami. Prayers for the fire teams & folks in the area. Be safe out there~~~

(DATELINE: Roosevelt, Arizona) The had a big day Monday, increasing to 8,895 acres. It is zero percent contained. 362 personnel are assigned including 9 crews along with 9 engines and 7 helicopters.

We are attaching the Black Fire PIO Day Map for July 16. It will print nicely on a 8.5 x 11 sheet in landscape mode. The Black Fire PIOs have a very challenging, widespread area to cover so we feel it is OK to post this map earlier than it will show up on Inciweb.

People from Globe/Miami to Payson are keenly interested in and concerned about this incident. Meanwhile, because of Roosevelt Lake's 100+ year popularity in Arizona, there are thousands more people around the state with an interest in the fire.

Estimated full containment date for the Black Fire is July 31.

Interestingly, the Black Fire is listed as the #6 priority fire in the Southwest Area. The Watch Fire remains listed as #1 but it is 81% contained and resources are being demobilized. Only one crew remains on the Watch Fire. We speculate the Black Fire will soon become one of the Southwest Area's top priority fires due to numerous and diverse "values at risk".
