The decade-long rivalry between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar exploded into a historic rap battle, as the two greats traded numerous diss tracks and captured the attention of the world in the process.

In recent weeks, Compton native and Pulitzer Prize-winner Kendrick Lamar, who is arguably regarded as one of the best rappers of all time, and Toronto-native Aubrey “Drake” Graham, who is considered the most successful artist of this generation, have made headlines across social media after dropping multiple diss records that consisted of severe accusations against each other. The decade-long beef between the two has been ignited on a large scale, forcing fans to pick a side and highlight why their preferred side is superior.

Fashion design students showed original design pieces while fashion merchandise students organized the runway event.

A storm of eyeshadow and fabric flooded the HEC on May 11th as students and volunteers frantically ran between hair and makeup, fittings, and the runway. For fashion design major Bella Akouri, it was the completion of a semester-long endeavor to create her own fashion line through painstakingly crocheting each and every piece of clothing. It was a bittersweet moment for Akouri, proud as she watched the products of her dedication to fashion descend down a blinding runway, but mournful of the loss of her grandfather, the man who inspired the collection and her passions.

The Chaparrals beat the Owls to win the NJCAA Region 4 Championship for the first time since 2002.

For the first time in 22 years, the College of DuPage baseball team won the NJCAA Region 4 Championship.

Going undefeated in the tournament, COD met with Oakton College one final time on May 12 after they beat Joliet Junior College and Waubonsee Community College to make the Region 4 title game. The Chaparrals claimed a 10-2 victory over the Owls in game one of the tournament, but Oakton put up more of a fight in their second showing.

Taylor Swift’s eleventh studio album promises a lot of poetics, but Swift’s past prose have been much more successful.

Taylor Swift’s much anticipated eleventh album, “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT,” was recently released between the North/South American and European legs of her billion-dollar Eras Tour. It appears that Swift is trying to keep her spot as this generation’s musical talent with TTPD, inventing new lyrical landscapes with her 31-song double album release. Yet, her attempts to cement her legacy as a “tortured poet” end up more desperate than effective. It is a distinctly Swift album, meandering through loves lost and her draining fame. But its overwrought prose and sonically similar songs make it one of her less successful endeavors.

COD teamed up with educators from the Willowbrook Wildlife Center to raise awareness on bird strikes as well as how they can be prevented.

Large, tall windows are a popular trend in modern city architecture, creating rooms that feel spacious and calming. But did you know that such windows pose a serious hazard to migrating birds across the country?

In their final regular season home games, the Chaparrals recognized their sophomores and picked up two more wins.

The College of DuPage baseball team celebrated their sophomore day on May 4 in their final home games of the regular season against Sauk Valley Community College. After splitting a doubleheader in the Skyhawks’ domain in April, the Chaparrals reigned supreme on both sides of the ball.

Professor Joe Goldberg and librarian Jason Ertz spoke last Monday about the threat misinformation poses and gave students tools and knowledge to combat it.

In a world increasingly dominated by digital communications, the ability to discern real information from misinformation is more crucial than ever. Recognizing this, College of DuPage (COD) journalism student, Rrita Mulaj, organized a seminar last Monday to explain the problem of misinformation and provide students with the tools to navigate today’s complex landscape.

COD swept Harper College to win the Region 4 Championship and advance to the NJCAA Great Lakes District Championship series.

The College of Dupage softball team claimed victory over Harper in two games to win the Region 4 Championship for the second consecutive season.

COD went head-to-head with Harper College in a best-of-three series for the Region 4 Championship on May 3 at home. With a strong showing from the circle, the Chaparrals shut out the Hawks in game one to win 2-0. Game two showcased COD’s offensive power, as they were determined to end the series in one day. The Chaps’ offense and defense clicked to leave the Hawks in the dust and win the second game 20-6.

Students and staff collaborated, learned from one another, and overcame challenges together during Phase III of the Water Bottle Art Project.

An abstract, elegant arrangement of colorful spirals adorned the cylindrical base of the upcycled fixture organized by COD Cares. Hands and plastic ribbons united at Phase III of the Water Bottle Art Project in which students and staff stopped by to help affix painted water bottle ribbons from the previous phase to wire-covered cardboard designed to be suspended from the ceiling.
